yeah i don't know where you're getting your figures, but $2K for insurance sounds awfully low, not to mention that if you drive that thing, you'll be gassing up at least 2x a week.  I'd say - TFs.  Start putting money away where it will grow nicely, say a mutual fund, and then get the car when you've got some driving under your belt.  That car/16 and house of gasoline/arson analogy was spot on.

lol yes it might seem that having a choice between a hot ride and tf's at 16 it quite weird (rich) but i assure u im not that rich. I have the choice because its my moms' boyfriends car, and he's rich so he doesnt care if he doesnt get a wackload of money for it, but as someone sed that a vette is alot of car for a new driver, i can also just start out on my moms prelude. the only problem is getting my dad to accept that i have a very powerful car, he thinks ita too powerful for a young kid.

get the vette @ your player price, sell it @ a dealer's price, use $$ for a down payment on a HOUSE.

 

wait another 2 to 5 years and then you would have enough equity to get the car you REALLY want, TFs up the yang, and most likely more cash than you had originally started w/ 4 to 7 years prior.

 

if you think that you cannot afford mtg payments, you will have the cash you were gonna spend on gas, insurance, service, etc. anyway. plus you can become an instant landlord and rent rooms (or even the whole house)to cover payments.

 

sorry for ramblin on guys, i just see a BIG opportunity for this young gentleman. (not just for TFs or a vette but for his future)

The car! I love tf's but a car is a necessity in most areas.
