You laugh, but we were very near a 'Transformers: Extreme' line right before Beast Wars won out.

Generation II would have ended, and a lot of the designs worked out would have been put under the 'Transformers: Extreme' moniker - think a 50-toy run using a lot of the early Beast Wars styles with transformations and all. (All the basics would have been flipchangers.. etc...)

Considering who posted that, yes.

please PLEASE tell me that is a sick joke-

where do you think the machine wars flipchangers came from? notice that they even had G2 symbols.

please PLEASE tell me that is a sick joke-

Nope, it was discussed, briefly, at Rochester in 1997 when people were asking about the Machine wars and where the toys had come from. There were a bunch of designs for flipchanger cars, tanks, and jets, but the only ones complete and 'ready to go' were the ones used in Machine Wars.

The 'extreme' name was one of several mentioned - and it got special note because of the GI Joe extreme line annouced at the same time.
