i don't blame bob skir for anything. it's not his fault that most of his stories and concepts were limited by mainframe's abillity to translate them into cgi format. i bet the image he had of techno-organic cybertron was a lot better than the half-assed tecture swap that mainframe did.

If it's a full season it's probably a bootleg. The only official DVDs of BM that are out are a 5-episode Canadian DVD and the Japanese "Beast Wars Returns" DVDs (which DO have the original English track but aren't region 1...).

Are you sure it didn't come out full season in the UK?

Its simple. It was a seriously deep and intellectual story. Most of the kids who grew up on G1 never had a taste of that. Just about every cartoon in G1 was little more than a set up for the Autos and Decepts to scuffle over who was going to get the energon.

Then Bob Skir rolls in with elements taken from Buddism, Catholicism, Dante's Inferno and a lot of other hairy stuff that shot right over most people's heads. Fold in that it was a serial show, and you got something that rewards only those who were patient enough to stick with it and think about it.

The sad thing is just about everything in life is like that. The masses want brand new crap shoveled out to them every 5 seconds. Anything with depth tends to be bannished to obscurity - Bob Skir is being put down for doing something great that the common dorks can't see. Won't be the first or last time that happens.

IMO, it doesn't get any better than Beast Machines.

Anyway, Rattrap eventually becomes one of the most valuable members of the team. He's probably my favorite BM character. :thumb

I pfx.

The more I watch my friend's scratchy, illegal VHS copies of Beast Machines, the more I wish Rhino (or someone) would get off their asses and put this on DVD.

Aside from a small number of clunkers (really just Silverbolt, ultra Jetstorm, and Megatron), it's a wonderful toyline.

Do you mean clunkers in a bad since? Ultra Jetstorm is my favorite out of the whole Line. I lost my original U Jetstorm and I liked it so much I Ebayed me another one.

As far as the BM show goes, it on the same lines as Energon to me. Once you see the episodes once that pretty much it no need to rewind. They're good but the only episode I watched over and over was the Final episode. Megatron was fierce! He put Optimal Optimus' body to way better use than it's original owner.

The toys mostly sucked and helped me save alot of Money. The first toy line where I didn't ever buy Megs or Primal. I waited for the RID AAOptimus Primal.

I LOVE the BM show, while I LOTHE the BM toys, THe only hope for show acuratcy is a line of BM ActionMasters, or Mega PVC's SHow acc. BM toys just can't be donb], mainly becuse there is no actual Transforming going on. The Maximals transform with flashy lights that course throught there body turning Humanoid parts into animal parts. The Vehicons and Megaatron are a bit better it actualy looks like they are Transforming the Clasic way, but that is just slight of hand. There is no posable way to get from Jetstorms Robot mode to vehicle mode in toy form.

Personally I like the deluxe Optimus Primal a lot. Sure he looks nothing like the show apart from the head sculpt, but it's a great mold, especially the MUNKY mode, which looks badass IMO.

I also like Megatron - at least I like what they tried to do..... well okay, he is way too small, but I just geek out over his "techno on the outside, organic on the inside" wings. A toy with a built-in metaphor!! :eek :D

And now that Takara is releasing repainted BW figs, there's no more "WTF" issue with Silverbolt for me. (okay he's also still too small......)

Anyway I liked the look of the BM figures a lot. I have Snarl and Skydive and I think they both have an awesome level of detail. Snarl in particular is just elegant.

(BTW don't base your opinion of those figures on their Universe repaints, which suck total and complete bung.)
