Everyone knows the three conflicting origins of the Constructicons from the cartoon.

But how about the Marvel comics' version of Optimus Prime? Note this is ignoring the "Orion Pax" origin from the cartoon and the "Optronix" origin from DW's "War Within".

- Was Optimus Prime originally a regular soldier until the Autobot council decided to promote him to their military leader, and didn't meet Megatron before that point, as depicted in "And There Shall Come... a Leader"?

- Was he originally one of the bodyguards of the Overlord and already knew Megatron, a former gladiator, at that point, as established in "State Games"?

- Or did he get the Matrix from a dying Sentinel Prime, thus becoming the new "Prime", as depicted in "Legacy of Unicron"?

Big EDIT --- Yeah...all from UK Comics.

All of these are from the UK comics.

All of these are from the UK comics.

Yeah I just went back and re-read some of my UK comics after seeing this.

Just came back to correct it.

I'd say...

Just go with the one you like the best or the one with the best writing.

I'll cast my vote after watching any/all of those.

I haven't had the chance to read any of those myself, but I from what I have heard others mention of the "State Games" story, Prime and Megatron have a real history with one another before the divide and the war, and I really like that aspect.

For Prime and Megs to have the kind of millenia spanning oddly repsectful relationship they have to have some kind of history, and "State Games," AFAIK, seems to provide that.
