What would you have done?

Recommended Posts

I was at Target yesterday, detirmined to not leave till I had a new Transformer. I'd read many positive comments about Strongarm, I wanted a Ravage, and also was concidering Hot Shot and Scorponok.

Now, understand, I have very limited funds. I would have only been able to get Scorponok and no others, or I could get two or three smaller ones.

Ultimately, I bought Strongarm and Ravage, saved Hot Shot for another day (buying a DVD instead), and didn't get Scorponok. I wanted him for his character's sake, but still kinda feel his modes look very clunky.

Was this a good decision? Those of you that have him, do you like him? Is he worth the 20 to 25 bucks? I'm just curious about other's reactions to him.

Plus I need more Decepticons. (anyone else collect like you need to pit the armies against eachother even though you're too old to play with them actively? :tftounge )

Thanks.

Probably would have done the same. I too am working on getting more Decepticons assembled for an army, even though I do not actively play with mine, most are MISB or MOC. IMO Skorpinok is clunky and his colors are ugly as hell. I do not like these neon colors in the Energon line and for the most part green makes me want to puke usually (except for money). I would have gone with Divebomb if you do not have him already, or E-Starscream or E-Rodimus Prime instead of getting Strongarm or Ravage (there are plenty of both). But I do agree getting the basics was probably your best move, financially, no need to waste money on a TF you do not even like. The same holds true for any TF. Some people like Hot Shot, do a search and you will find plenty of reviews, for myself I do not like his vehicle mode, so I passed on him.

There are going to be tons of new Energon toys before years end, pacing yourself financially is my best suggestion. Besides I think quality vs quantity matters. I know some people are completist type collectors, which I think is not worth it in the long run, since you are getting characters you do not want. After all, there are bound to be characters you do not want or for that matter you care less about, but you get it anyways b/c you need to complete your collection… IMO what a waste. Most people end up selling their collections but cannot break even on all figs b/c some have little to no demand. On that final note, I say just get what you really want, regardless if you play with them or not, some TF are crap others slightly better. Good luck! :thumb

While Scorponok is an excellent toy, you can't be faulted for bending to the will of the Strongarm.

for $30 id get divebomb, strongarm and starscream, those are all really nice, scorpy id get just for completion, he's not all that great, he just stands on a table now next to megs who is imo the best of energon, followed by starscream then divebomb

I already have Starscream, Rodimus, and Skyfire from the Energon line. Also, I've never seen Divebomb at a Target. Target's selection is very limited.

Thanks for the thoughts, though. Laters.

Well what's done is done, but IMO Battle Ravage is a rather clunky looking Terroncon (probably the worst one of the three).

Strongarm I'd have waited for the repaint, and ditto for Hot Shot.

As for Scorponok, the thing is that he looks clunky, but man oh man that figure is great; well designed with great mold detailing and colour scheme. I'd personally have gone with him, since it will be easier to save up funds for the other choices quicker than it is to save up for another Scorponok priced purchase.

I can see myself going and getting some terrorcons to bulk up me decpticons but your choices were good ones, though scorponok should be a mus buy if your not getting megatron in the near future

i would of done the same as you and bought the smaller ones

Multiple Omnicons for sure.

One big is nothing compared to 3 small.
