My Ironhide design

I think it is a good idea but should give a little incentive to those who purchase. Like if there was a first contact list if the figures are actually produced, those who purchase and help you get started get first notice and chance to buy the figure. Just an idea. I mean you still be making the money. Just have make clear that there is no 100% guaranty that the figures be made at this point.

Exactly what I was planning on doing. :thumb

Oh, and FG the alt mode won't just be a "skin" the van form is very much a part of his bot mode. Even in this shot, you can see; the dash on his back, those jump thrusters behind it are housed in the front seats, just below the arm "pit-aria" there is the frame for the front doors, just below that is one of the four independent wheel motors (how else do you expect the wheels to go four ways to the wind and still work in alt mode?), just below the left knee joint you can see another one of these motors, his feet are the third row seats, and last but not least the framing of the hood and headlights coming off the chest. That's just the stuff I felt needed to be incorporated into the framing of his bot mode, into his core "skeletal structure" as it were. This represents Ironhide without any "flesh" on him at all, robot or otherwise. I am a firm believer that a bot's alt-mode is inseparably a part of his core spark, which will be evident in some of my future writings on TF technology (probably more around the time the Dinobots come out).

You'll just have to read my reports to find out more of what I mean (that is if you’d want to anyway) :tfevil

Interesting idea. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more of those. If it's what you want to do, give it a shot.

Oh, my God, that is hideous. You should really save yourself some work and skip all of those internal details. Concentrate on making a good Ironhide toy. And please fix the face.

That said, for $10 I would buy one.

Yeah, I would much rather buy $10 artwork of custom-designed G1 Alternators (although I do have an extreme facination with Cybertronian tech, which is pretty much why I don't want to see a BT-esque story entailing humans copying it). That'd be my first vote.

My second vote is to just charge and extra ten bucks for the figures.

OK first-off MikePrime that's just his "skull", it's not what the toy's face would look like.

Second, Utsanomiko, would you pay $10 for a somewhat smaller report covering the design aspects of IH without all of the more "story" aspects of the "BT-ification" process itself?

Say, just a few pages of full color images of both modes with weapons descriptions, special features, and maybe only one "exploded" view without images of skeletal structures and the like.

NATO - I AM SO IN!!! i'm all for fan-based ideology (sp?) and in your case, i'm a kind of guy who'd defnitely like to know - official or not, other's point of view - how things work! GREAT IDEA!!!

oh ironhide and rachet please! :D

Like an expanded character profile? Absolutely.

Particularly if it made it more likely for you to produce these figures. Hell, I'd be willing to pay extra for 'first run/prototype' figures to help add funds to your plan to make semi-large basis.

Part of the reason I've been so enthusiastic and supportive of this (besides the clear fact of the quality and detail of the designs) is that with my 'crew of the Ark' 1/24th Alt/BT/MP collection almost every way I've pictured and planned the eighteen figures it results as 5 figures I have/will get + 5 that need minor repaints/remolds + 5 scratchbuilds I can plan out and expectedly do to my satisfaction. The last three are Ironhide, Ratchet, and Trailbreaker. It'll save me a lot of time and effort to buy BT/MP-priced custom Alternators like this.

OK, cool. That's what I'll do then. I'll just save all that stuff for the book that I'm writing: Do Transformers Need Eyes? A Compendium of Cybertronian Biology .

... It's a working title.

It'll be like a biology textbook for transformers...

... only not so boring. :tflaugh

So you are planning to put all this stuff in one book? Sounds better to me. Maybe to soon to ask, but how much are you planning to charge when you are done? Frankly, after seeing some of your work I wish we were discussing buying actual figures now :tfsad. Really hope you are succesfull! ( for selfish need to have awesome looking TF's :tflaugh :tfgrin :tflaugh1 :tftongue :tfevil )
