Toy Fair - Alternators / Cybertron First Look

Recommended Posts

I have to say not to impressed with Prowl, his car mode looks great but that robot mode looks pretty meh to me, now that could change as that isn’t exactly the best transformation/pose and who knows they might still be in the process of refining him but initial impressions are defiantly meh. Still that yellow repaint of Windcharger looks awsome I really cant wait for that one to come out he looks totally bada@@ defaintly the best repaint/remould besides perhaps Shockblast.

As for Cybertron nothing to new on that front, except I might just say the packaging I have seen it does not look to great. As for King Scremer I might just pass on this one as since its looks more or less the same as the GF one (yes I know its bigger) but I might just opt out for the GF one as its going to be lighter on the wallet but I will most likely wait for the Cybertron versions for the rest of the line (although Dread Rock and Prime are awfully tempting)

Um... WOW! I don't want to seem like I'm B..ching, but... I really don't like that Prowl. As an artist/designer (and amateur toymaker) it just doesn't seem aesthetically pleasing to me. Though not a total waste, I too think the legs would be better the other way around. I don't mind the chest either. For me, it's the arms that do it. Why are they so slim? It looks like they put some little Cybertron basic arms on the thing! And looking at the underside of the vehicle mode it doesn't seem as though there is any reason (transformation wise) for their dinky-ness. AND I don't really like the head sculpt, that's not a b...tch, just my personal opinion.

I don’t know maybe it’s just that I’ve been spending the last week and a half engineering (that’s right for those of you who care, engineering no longer designing) my Ironhide and Ratchet designs. It just doesn’t seem to me like they put as much attention to detail into this guy as I would have liked.

And, I was really looking forward to Prowl.

Prowl's arm transformation appears to be the same as Grimlock's, and you know how tough that is. But, due to the thin arms, it will not have the same transformation problems that Grimlock has.

Hummm....All the other threads about 'how I hope Hasbro reads this thread' and how the Hasbro guys read the site. How do you think they will respond with all the 'everyone at Hasbro are idiots' that is going on here?

I am hoping the Prowl is misstransformed. I am not so sure about the whole chest part of it. I do like the legs a lot. I am sure these are both test shots of sorts and the finals will be much cleaner.

You would think, Hasbro would send someone out to an even this big and actually show SOMEONE how to transform it right.

Spencer.

thanks for the pics Jack, but no picks to the red corvette??

prowl looks cool just wondering why hastak didnt make the viper transform that way for sideswipe

*awaits prowl getting kitbashed into redalert*

*awaits quite a few people passing over him*

they will all Starscream about him *cough*ravage*cough* and buy him anyway,

I am surprised they did him different from streak, smokes and jazz

variety is good for the soul

Prowl looks great. Isn't this the transformation people have been wanting since Sideswipe, and haven't people been wanting a new transformation style? What's the problem here?

The cybertron stuff looks good, I like the packaging. It usually ends up in the trash anyway, but Hasbro trying new things is always good.

Oh man that prowl is ugly

:pfx

And is me or does Flame Convoy/Scourge's head look like BW Dinobot's from the CGI cartoon.

Also does anyone know who is doing the artwork for the cybertron boxes it looks pretty good so far. :thumb

Well actually, the arm transformation is only slightly like Grim’s. Not to mention, the problem with Grim’s arms isn’t the width of the forearm, it’s how the wheels and doors attach to the arms, and consequently the strange way they need to be rotated during the transformation so they don’t fall off (which to me, isn’t really a problem at all, as long as you can figure out how to do it).

Both of those difficulties (door and wheel attachment) were overcome by the way the door and wheel assembly attach to the shoulder. So, on a design standpoint, (from the pics we have) I see no reason for the skinny arms. To be absolutely sure, however, I’d need to see both modes transformed correctly.

From the picture of the underside of the car mode it looks to me as though the door/wheel assembly could just hang off the side of the arms ala Sideswipe.

Also, I would agree with some of the other posts about possible changes to come. Look at the head on the car mode underside, the face isn’t even painted.

PS- I’m not complaining, I love the Alts, (so much that I want to be apart of the lines design team someday). I just wonder why they left this model so unfinished, when the rest of the line always looked so good.
