the old stickers should loose thier potencey over time, although they should never loose adhesion to the original wax sheets. (cant explain the chemistry on the that, easily)

sticker glue used to a compound similar to elmers glue (made from horsey parts) organic glues degrade over time (eaten by bacteria delivered from human hands) the new sticker glues are not only supposedly water proof, but inorganic

 

 

when in doubt, dont apply old g1 stickers, buy reprolables or the like

smithsquared's advice sounds good.

 

I have some twenty year old stickers still on the sheets that appear to be fine, but since I have no plans to actually apply them - we'll never know. (I only apply the stickers nessary to make them "Show Accurate" - which is usually just the Autobot/Decpticon logos, most of those little random stickers with colored panels, wires, etc. on them never get removed from the sheet.)

I have tried to take off stickers that are really old. They either just fall off or end up being permanently stuck to the backer. Sometimes they end up ripping wrong. Not sure how foil stickers work tho...
