I finally did it

Recommended Posts

My first BT bash, and I screwed it up big time.

I applied the first layer of paint and everything was Honky Dory. But when I went to apply another layer (different type of paint) the paint started screwing up BIG TIME.(as warned by WraithVerge)

It started to coagulate and blotch.

Now my Red Jazz looks HORRIBLE! I tried to peel away the paint with little - no success.

To recover I have hand molded a new torso for him entirely. It doesn't look TOO bad, but it still hurts to think about it.

*continues to hang head in despair*

Ha ha. Welcome to kitbashes! Man, that kind of thin g happens to me with everyone I do. I went trhough 4, FOUR Silverstreaks to make a good Prowl, who everyone regards as one of the easier kitbashes. Oh well, I feel your pain man

What kind of paint did you use? If it is an enamel paint base you can soak the parts in oven clean and the paint will come right off. You might have to scrub some off I use and old tooth brush. And the oven cleaner won't hurt the plastic parts either. But do use rubber gloves and use a container that you can seal so the oven cleaner doesn't dry out. It's an old model building technique I have used alot in the past.

If I ever alter a figure it won't be a $40 plus figure. Maybe because I'm not wealthy.

Over Cleaner sounds intriguing. I should try that. It's only on the abdomen (rest of the areas I painted worked out great.

And yeah, I normally don't bash anything other than alternators because I can't afford it either. But I really wanted a red Mazda for Dead End and I didn't want to go through the hassle of painting a white plastic one. Sigh.....

Thanks for the understanding everybody, I feel a bit better.

I remember my first kitbash. I was 8 I think. I took Ultra Magnus and used blue and red markers on him to make him into Optimus Prime!

can u post pics. of it please,,let us see ur creation lol

Like I said, I completely redid the torso, so it dosn't look TOO bad, I just felt kinda burned by what happened. But I'm sure one day I'll be able to post pics.

Dont feel bad man. Every basher has had his down moments but thats how you learn. My first repaint (Alt Smokescreen with G1 color scheme) came out horrible because I used the brush paint method. Since then, I've been using airbrush or spray paints.

been there done that also have gotten carried away with my dremmel

but hand brushing can lok god i did my frst 2 customs by hand they turned out alright but airbrushing and spraypainting work alot better and quicker
