LOL Not all women look at guys who collect the same way you know. I think that some women know we have our quirks just as other women have theirs. It's just a matter of compromise as much as liking the person that you are with. If there isn't that initial chemistry or spark there than you can say se-la-ve. Just always be yourselves at all times and try not to get too worked up at women that laugh. sometimes thats how you start off or keep continueing a great conversation. :thumb :tftongue

I'll tell you right now...I grew up a skinny, four-eyed, sci-fi geek. I've always loved the stuff, and never disguised my passion for it. Trek was my major jones, but I was into everything sfnal. And I did just fine with girls in high school, and women in college. I only had one who complained about my playing D&D once a week (this was post-college), but it was a slightly long-distance relationship, so it rarely impacted her life.

Now, I'm 38 and married to a fabulous woman. She's not into this stuff with me (though she did enjoy ST: The Next Generation and does enjoy Harry Potter and The Dead Zone). But, otherwise, she has no interest in sf. Yet, she put up with me continuing to play my weekly D&D for a couple of years after our wedding. She reads every story I write, and even though she admits that she doesn't get the sf stuff, usually has a practical comment or two that give my writing more real-world credibility.

The women who laugh and insult you :mwahaha when they hear about your interests aren't worth your time. The women who chuckle a little, but think it's harmless or cute :roll , are winners. The women who dive right in :clap , well...those are good ones too (as long as you don't have to fight over custody of the collection).

I hang around a lot of sf fans and writers, and while 50% of the married ones have spouses who fully share their interests, the other half are married to spouses who just accept this facet of their loved one (some with a sigh, some with a smile, but they accept it).

Be who you are, and the right person will come along. They don't have to be raving Cybertronians to realize that a love of toys is a sign of a good heart. A man who knows how to play is going to make a good father (I know my kids appreciate it that I'm not some dour, serious geezer). I don't know a woman out there who doesn't want that in her man. :luv

Hello RumbleBee:

Sorry for the late reply; just got back from a business trip.

My band's name is Zephyre. We're a blues band, but we branch out into funk, Santana-latin type rhythms, and basically anything that has a good groove that you can improv/jam to (some ABB, RRFB-type, North Mississippi Allstars-inspired gospel man!). Pretty intense. No webpage; we're just once a week jammers and do it for the musical bortherhood. Also for the natural high of connecting with our audience-that's probably the most important factor right there.

Tell you what though, I could quite smoking, will be quiting TF collecting (baby on the way and band is picking up), but I could NEVER quite the pickin my bass!-I'll have to give her a name soon; BB has Lucile, mine may be...don't know yet. Any suggestions?!

BTW: If Jazz is in the movie, he better be playing 'JAZZ'. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>How 'bout some Herby Hancock-the godfather of funk before there eva was da name!<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Otherwise, why be named 'Jazz'? The dude's got taste son!

TF conventions should have mixers with members of the opposite sex. Ok ok we also need something like that on the board but what the hey, it is hard to know if people are actually who they say they are, let along their gender. :tflaugh

Hey Kumtoshi,

Coincidental since (no joke) I was having a dream last night that I was a Base player in a rock band.

As for naming your Base, I always thought the name ROXANNE was one of the sexiest Good luck on your band, dude!

I don't do poetry (except on greeting cards). Just sf short fiction, children's picture and chapter books, and one novel that I despair of ever finishing.
