Identifying TFs

while in tokyo recently i picked up a few tfs (well who wouldn't?). i also picked up a couple of what i assume are limited edition ones. two all transparent non transforming figures (metroplex and hot rod) and an all black hot rod. can anyone explain the origins of these for me?

pictures would probably help.

unfortunately i don't have the facility to do that, although i realise it would help.

the two transparent ones are small. hot rod is about half the size of the original toy, metroplex is only marginally bigger.

the all black hot rod is identical to the original, but in black with a little grey here and there.

my guess was that the first two are some sort of magazine exclusive or send off and that last one was an ehobby type repaint.

the see thoughs sound like the PVCs and there was a black hot rod released some time back i found an ebay auction on it here

but pics will always help ;)

Metroplex

can anyone tell me anything about them as the site i got those from has no information at all.

and by way of apologies for my inability to do a simple google search first time round, may i explain that these were bought almost by accident. basically, i found a shop in tokyo (may have been one i was told about by someone on here, although it had no english name on display) which had more gen one stuff than i had seen anywhere the whole time i was there. so much in fact that when my girlfriend said she would buy me something as it was my birthday i couldn't decide. there was simply too much to choose from. and on the grounds that i coulndn't actually carry too much back i was limited in size as well. basically my brain broke down and i picked these two clear models and left with no gen i stuff. i don't actually regret not buying any as i spent a fortune anyway, but it was a basic brain freeze caused by too much choice. i felt like i needed to shut down and restart just to clear my head of the volume of decisions that went through it when given the choice of just one piece.

thank you both.

and can i just say that if that metroplex sels for that much its unreal. i paid about US$5 for the one i picked up.
