G1 dinobots question

Recommended Posts

I found a guy that has a complete set of the Dinobots and they are dead mint. My question is how much would you pay for them? The guy says he Ebay prices his stuff but, it seems more expensive. He said that that Swoop sells for like $150 in the condition his is in. So, you can guess this set will cost me alot of money if I buy it. So what does everyone think?

All five? You can easily go to prices of $500 for the total set.

I got mine for: (all mint, complete, no playwaer but loose)

Snarl: 20 euros

Slag: 40

Sludge: 40

Grimlock: 60

Swoop 140

in seperate auctions

thats 300 euros or 390 dollars (at current rate, it was 280 dollars back when I bought them)

I'd wait for the reissues, plain and simple. It is your money spend it as you see fit and $500 is too much IMO, regardless of what things go for over at evilbay; people get into stupid bidding wars.

These guys may be rare to find in good condition, but consider the fact you could go take a great vacation with $500 which you'll remember for the rest of your life - sometimes too much is too much!

^^^ A vacation? Pfft! These are Transformers we're talking about, here!

Go to www.Wheeljackslab.com (I can tell you that this guy is a very good dealer and honest) they are around 55 a pice and around 90 for Swoop. I have never seen Swoop go for more than 100. 500 for a set is way too much. Hope this helps

I've dealt with Chris (Wheeljack's Lab) a few times, he's great. I got a loose complete G1 Mirage from him in an auction on Ebay, and one of his legs had one of the fins broken off. It was photographed that way, but I missed it until I got the item in the mail... I emailed him asking if he had a replacement part and how much it would cost, and he sent the part free of charge! Only thing with Chris is if you want something in mint condition, be SURE to specify that to him, likewise for complete vs. loose with no weapons accessories, etc. He has a pretty big selection, and can often get you one at a lower price if you don't mind doing some repair work to them, tightening joints up and what not. Either way, he's definitely reliable, and his prices are fair. Highly worth a click and a read, at least.

I made a deal with myself to never pay more than $20 for a Dinobot, in good, playable, nothing broken off condition. First I got Sludge ($20!). Then came Slag ($20!!). Then I bought a lot, which included (amongst some other goodies) Grimlock, Slag, Snarl, and Sludge. Total was 107, including shipping. Yup... each of those guys was $20 when I did the math. :)

Now Swoop... everyone knows he's harder to find, and especially in good condition.

(might i also note that i don't care if the weapons are present, which is why it was easier to find $20 Dinos that fit my needs)

I went to this toy store, and rooted through the TF box they had. Found a sandwich baggie...."Scoop, Good Condition, $50."

Scoop?

Obviously we're dealing with a non Transfan here.

Had his sword, one missle launcher with missle, and i think something else. (but remember, all that is bonus, as I don't care about finding their weapons).

"Excuse me, I'd like to purchase this... Scoop."

Holding in my excitement at finally collecting my 5th Dinobot (well 7th not counting doubles).

her - "Ok."

"I'll give you 40 for it."

her - "45."

"40."

her - "42."

(pause....) "40."

her - "41?"

(blink..blink...breathe...) "40."

"Ok, 40."

Thanx!!! see ya.

now when i got home, i noticed that his right arm was severed at the inner shoulder joint (so that when you pulled his arms out in robot mode, it would come off). Damn. Easily fixable though. Still, i felt good for buying a Swoop for 40 instead of my usual 20.

Anyway, my point is, don't spend that insane kind of money on the dinobots, when a little hard work, patience, and diligent hunting can find you your treasure. My complete Dinobot collection (just 5, now, mind you) cost me a total of $120.

peace

ps - too lazy to edit that last post. i felt good for paying 40 for a swoop, despite it being 2x my usual 20, but still a good deal.

also - did anyone catch the bad santa scene i was replaying with the dealer?

"half."

"30%"

"(blows smoke ring.) hoff!"

:)
