Hasbro Revenues Fall on Weak Holiday Sales - Transformers Turnaround Expected

Recommended Posts

Hasbro Inc (HAS.O) touted a strong entertainment lineup for 2011, including toys modeled after the movie "Transformers -- Dark of the Moon", to reassure investors about its future sales prospects after a lackluster finish to the all-important holiday selling season. Read the Full News Story Here

Hmmm, was it lackluster because (once again) you saved all the anticipated new releases until Spring? :doh

"DOG DAYS ARE OVER?" Yes, I would say they are. No kid comes back to a fad, EVER.

The reality is ALL the holiday sales were lackluster. Even the holiday jobs hiring was meh. It was all a lot of hype based on wishful thinking.

Something tells me Hasbro is in a frenzy right now. Could be why they pushed all those Prime toys out to the major news outlets today?

Hasbro having a pitiful release schedule and then wondering why they aren't selling anything is sooo stupid but also indicative of the way corporate America thinks.

It's never THEIR fault, it must be the employees or the product. T_T;

If I had to guess, I'd say poor sales of the PCC line might have a little to do with the overall decrease in sales. Like I said, just a guess. Of course, most retailers did some big price drops and probably didn't move enough figures to compensate for the cuts.

Either way, Hasbro has been doing pretty well through some tough times. They were bound to take a step back sooner or later.

Its not any one line and this report doesnt point the finger at anything TF related. Their stock isnt just tied to TFs but a huge platform of various toylines. Im willing to bet that other lines like Littlest Pet Shop and especially Beyblade did poorer then TFs.

:agree I think it was due to stale offerings. They really didn't introduce anything new for the holidays besides RTS (which still isn't systemwide, it seems)

I'm still waiting for RTS to show up down here. I would say the lackluster and the recession.

I did notice store shelves were fully stocked most of the holiday season. Previous holiday seasons left shelves with huge gaps of empty spaces in the toy aisles. My local Walmarts were sitting on a lot of toy stock through Christmas and days after when employees were boxing stuff up. Hey Walmart, if you are reading this, having 3 or 4 rows of Tuner Skids in each of your stores is not going to help your sales. The recent recession has made me re-evaluate my spending habits as well. I know a lot more folks who are unemployed or were recently and they downsized their holiday spending as a result. If the upcoming assortments of DOTM are any indication, I'm going to be saving a whole lot of money. With the exception of the helicopter and the firetruck, I'm giving everything a big ole 'meh'. You want me to spend money Has-blow? Make a decent leader class Blackout.
