"The area will double as Ukraine."

LOL...great! How does passing if off as a foreign city attract tourism revenue to Gary, Indiana exactly? The average movie goer will see the film and say "neat place! I wouldn't mind going to the Ukraine someday..." If the filming crew does their job well, nobody will even think about Indiana. :tflaugh

where does it say that it'll attract tourism?

i'm sure it might attract some tourism, but i think the economic aspect is the fact that the whole crew will be there.. they'll probably pay for hotel rooms, they've got to pay to film there, people are going to need to eat.. and so on, i think that sort of stuff helps out the economy a bit more. plus, it'll be all over the news, especially their local news, and whenever anything is said about this movie on the news, it usually finds its way to the internet. and there will probably be people there sneaking set shots and what not, which will also find their way onto the internet.

this same thing happened in philly, it doubled as paris, but the city made out pretty well because of the crews and what not.

They can always go see Michael Jackson's birthplace, that's in Gary. :-P
