Ebay,Paymate, Moneybookers? Wut?

Recommended Posts

I just won a few TF auctions "cybertron menasor and universe blaster yay :D" on ebay from a certain seller on ebay, however his payment options are strange to me. Instead of taking paypal ebay only gives me the option to use the services "Paymate" or "moneybookers".

I have never heard of these up until now, but from what I can tell, both are covered under ebay's buyer protection policy. But like I said, I haven't had any experience with them in the past, so I figured it would be best to ask you guys which of the two is better. Also does anyone have any tips on just how to use these services? Because moneybookers looked quite strait forward, but paymate had some sort of payment system that sends a payment monthly and I am totally unsure of what its for, and I would just opt out of it, but there is no option to in the drop down list and it is a required field.

Anyways, any help is appreciated.

Unless Paymate and Moneymaker are merchant services payment contractors, he's in violation of eBay policy. With the current policy, payment can only be made via PayPal or a registered credit card merchant. Insist that he accepts PayPal. If he doesn't, file complaint on him. I'd be especially wary if he's an overseas shipper.

Actually Paypal isn't the only payment option anymore. Sellers can opt to not use Paypal, (I loathe Paypal, so I like this), and Moneybookers was one of the alternative options.

Here's the list of paypal alternatives peoplke can opt to use instead...

I've had to pay with Paymate before, if I remember correctly it was like a debit transaction.

Ask the seller which one is easiest, and how to do it. Most sellers are very happy to help, since they are making money anyway LOL

Must have been recent additions. Now I gotta go look on eBay :schin

If Paymate's rates are less than PayPal, then I'm sold

EDIT: NVM, their fees are actually more

If you haven't learned to skirt paypal fees by now, you haven't been paying attention :tflaugh

Actually Paypal isn't the only payment option anymore.

You should change that to THEN. Back in the olden days, Paypal wasn't the only option. Even back before Paypal was Paypal and it was just X.COM (yes X-COM no wonder they changed) and BidPay was pretty popular. You could also just send the dude a money order or a check! Those were the days.

But I may complain to sellers who have auctions that say accept Paypal, but then they use a Paypal alternative. I complain for them to send me a Paypal invoice, but if they force me to use the alternative that they like, I go through with it and then block them after getting the item and leaving feedback. :tfevil
