Transformers addiction

Recommended Posts

Good day all!

Got given a list of the 'Criteria for Substance Abuse', as set out by the American Psychiatric Association today:

'At least three of the following persist for at least one month or have occurred repeatedly over a significant period of time:

- Substance taken in larger amounts or over a longer period than originally intended.

- Substance used to relieve or avoid stress

- One or more unsuccessful attempts to cut down or to control substance abuse or a persistant desire to do so.

- Considerable time spent in activities necessary to obtain the substance, using the substance, or recovering from its effects.

- Symptoms of intoxication or withdrawal occur when expected to fulfil major obligations at work, school or home.

- Important activites or obligations are reduced or unmet due to the substance use.

- Continued use despite knowledge that a persistant or recurrent social, psychological or physical problem is related to use of the substance.

- Marked tolerance with increased amount of the substance (at least 50%) to achieve intoxication or a desired effect: markedly diminished effect with use of the same amount of substance.

- Characteristic withdrawal symptoms.

Now substitute 'substances' for 'Transformers'... and apply this to your life looking for, buying and collecting transformers. Could Transformers be addictive, and could this be a case of abuse? :-p

jesus h christ, i have every one of those symptoms...

In addicted! The 1st step is admitting it.

im not addicted, i just do it every now and then to take the edge off, thats all, im just stressed, really

I can quit anytime! Wait, whaddya mean, "intervention?" Screw you!

OK, really--I don't think I'm addicted since I don't meet the criteria. But Hell, I'll buy them no matter what age I am, so...I'm "addicted," only in a good way.

My name is Diesel and I'm a Transformaholic.

Everyone - "Hi Diesel."

Uh, wrong room. The "Transformers Anonymous" meeting is down the hall, to your left. By the Pepsi machine, yeah.
