Upcoming Cartoon Called Transformers: Prime?

Recommended Posts

I hope they go in the G1 direction it's the direction of the toys, the comic and damn near everything else may as well go that way with the cartoon!

I hope they don't. Except for All Hail Megatron, no G1-revival story has struck the right chord with me, not even Marvel's G2 comic. I really think that while Transformers has successfully become a traditional childhood toy & story, the G1 fiction is too rooted in the 80s in tone and execution to make the transition to today effectively. I have no interest in the G1 revivals from Dreamwave or IDW (I only bought AHM because I saw the trade at Borders), but I snapped up & frequently reread the Titan G1UK reprints. It's not that I don't like G1 anymore, I just don't like what's being done to it these days. Meanwhile, apart from Energon, all the TF reinventions have had something appealing about them, something to keep me watching.

Maybe it's just that if it's labeled G1, the story & characters feel like the writers are screwing up my childhood heroes, but reboots are okay because they're not the same characters. If G1 Prime had ripped an enemy's face off, I'd be demanding my money back, but ROTF Prime, him I can accept doing it. Is that weird? :wtf It's probably attributable to my inner child deep down screaming, "No, no no! You're getting it all wrong!" when I tried to read almost any of the neo-G1 stuff. :tflaugh

Anyway, I'd prefer that the cartoon, as the "mainstream" version of TF fiction, continue to try new things and visit new corners of the TF multiverse, not get stuck in the "trying to recreate G1" rut the comics have been stuck in since Dreamwave got the license.

It would be interesting if the show would be called Transformers:PRIMUS. It would star some old favorites but a little more futuristic. Have the characters be "decendants" of the older dudes like a young, up-coming Megatron, Star-scream, etc. The premise would be trying to find out where they all came from. Who was Primus? Where did he come from? Who made Unicron? Almost like a Holy-Grail quest type adventure that would take them to different planets with different bots or clues. Ultimately to earth. You get the point. Make it a little more "not-so-kiddified. Aww screw it, I'm pitching this to Hasbro!! I could write this in a week.

Eh, the name of the show isn't that big a deal for me, as long as the show itself is pretty good and the toys look decent enough then it's good enough for me....though I have a thought in the back of my head yelling that this may just be a cartoon version of the movies.

I still want season 4 of Animated...

I'd like to hear Michael Bell as Prowl again. Or Sideswipe.

I hope the new cartoon is not related to the movies.

I agree. The movie-verse should stay independent.

I'm excited about this cartoon as well. And especially am eager to see the toyline that will no-doubt come with it. As always, Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream will be my biggest wants in the line.

I'm also agreeing here about the movie verse staying independent. I hope they do not do another series like Armada, Energon, or Animated. At least Cybertron was ok.

Though with all the Universe toys and stories. That should be the way to go, just make sure to keep hot shot out of it Hasbro! I would like to see some of the past Japanese Transformers brought back like Liokaiser, Star Saber, Overlord, The Dinoforce, Road Caesar, and Dai Atlas.

Anyway Universe stories are the way to go IMO.

heh heh........Hot-shot sucks. Oh and can we PPPLLLEEEAASSSSEE have Star Scream be a bad-ass for once? I'm sick of him always being the sniveling toadie. He didn't get to be second in command for nothing!!! (Think about that!)
