Skids - popularity?

Recommended Posts

I recall many TFans members mentioning this autobot called Skids and I had the impression that Skids was quite popular.

Since I am a loyal Honda follower (and I wish one day I will work for them, Japan!!!), this intrigued me to purchase the hasbro reissue.

After "playing" with skids and applying all the decals (man this bot is WORTH the $ so many stickers!!! I would have LOVED him as a kid!!!), I started wondering how popular he was back then because I had no recollection of this character AT ALL!

He only had 2 cartoon aperances, Getting repaired by Wheeljack, and geting slagfed, and made into a throne by Blitzwing, he was later repaired. Recently he had a cameo in one of the Botcon comics

Like I said, he got squashed by Blitzwing and ended up on Ratchet's repair table, where he was seen yearningly peering off screen as if he couldn't wait to be there...

I have always loved Skids, just seems like no else has liked him enough to put him in the older shows. Dreamwave is using him quite a bit though.

I like the toy - didn't really remember him from anything before, though. As an alt mode, he looks great with the rest of 'em. Besides, he's an original TF/Diaclone car! Gotta love 'em.

Skids had a good run of a few issues in the Marvel comic run, but his cartoon appearances were near nil. He was in the governing council appointed by Shockwave in the Dreamwave War & Peace run, and he'll probably continue to make appearances in the current comics, but I highly doubt he'll be a major player.

I remember him most from Marvel comics; always the philosophical, introspective type. *Almost* closest thing to an Autobot chaplain we'll ever have(far as I know). I liked him well enough to shell out the Hamiltons to buy his reissue :clap

I think Skids became popular due to his unpopularity.

nice line!

thanks for the insight into this everyone!

I am actually intimidated to ask about the flow or "continuity" of the comics...

I only purchased 1 TF comic as kid... all i reemember is galvatron blasting rodimus prime into BITS and PIECES (rodimus was chained up to the *twin towers* [moment of silence please] of NYC).

but just being CURIOUS... what would an avid TF fan do in order to "regain" the knowledge of these old school comics? i'm pretty sure they are all out of print... but is there some sort of publicated "BOOK" with a full collection or something of that sort?

Here ya go...the Marvel TPBs.

They're all in this list along with the UK comics, which ran much longer than the Amercian series. BTW, I apologize for linking to that..."other" site.
