The primary reason that I didn't like ROTF is because I couldn't stop thinking about what changes I would have made to make it a better story. I had a few tweaks and changes in mind for the first one, but for ROTF I can't help but want to change SO much of it. I want to share these ideas with you and tell me which would have been a better movie. The basic plot line is the same, but with a lot of changes.

 

First, an overview of the idea.

 

1. Keep the concept of the Sun Harvester being The Fallen's legacy. I think the plot line had huge potential. Keep Sam learning secrets from the All Spark.

 

2. Cut Sam being chased by the Decepticons (too similar to the first movie). Cut Skidz and Mudflap (if they must be in there, make them smarter - have a humorous competetive relationship - not a contest of stupidity), cut Alice as a Decepticon (keep as a form of friction between Sam and Mikaela), cut all the Decepticon clones, tone down the sex/drug humor and the cursing (keep it classy), cut the roomate, and finally cut The Fallen (keep as flashback).

 

So this is my alternate plot (if I don't mention it, its because it would be the same as the movie)

 

The Decepticons are looking for the source of energon in order to build the army that keeps dying on the Nemesis (they don't know what it is), so Starscream orders all the incursions on Earth. But the All Spark within Megatron allows Megs to contact Soundwave who then rescues him as it exists in the actual movie (by stealing the shard with Ravage, etc) Soundwave informs Starscream of his mission, and Starscream grudgingly agrees.

 

Once Megatron gets back to The Nemesis, Megs explains what he learned by absorbing the All Spark. He lets Starscream know what they've been sensing is the Sun Harvester, and Megs know's its in Egypt. The plan is to make it run again. But before he does so Megs wants revenge on Prime and especially Sam - he orders Wheelie to spy on him and report a good time to attack.

 

So Sam gets zapped by his own shard which give him the visions, and gives it to Mikaela. Wheelie by then has arrived and is spying on them, but upon seeing Mikaela falls in love with her. He's so taken by her that Mikaela sees Wheelie and captures him as normal.

 

So Sam asks Bumblebee to take him to Prime to tell him about the visions (Prime also needs Sam to vouch for the Autobots to the goverment - Mikaela would be there too - with the new Autobot Wheelie) As their about to meet, Megs demands to get info from Wheelie, who refuses to provide it because he fears for Mikaela's life. Soundwave hacks into Wheelie's memory and Megs learns he's meeting with Prime. Sam shows Prime the symbols and Prime is surprised when he reads them.

 

But before Prime can explain what he just learned, Wheelie warns them that Megs and Starscream are on their way, so they escape hoping they can get back up and regroup with the military and the Autobots - Bee takes Mikaela and Prime takes Sam. Bee escapes, but Prime is ambushed in the forest by Megs and Screamer again, the battle happens, Primes kicks major ass like normal, but Megs eventually disables Prime, he doesn't kill him but Prime is so beat up he can't move. Megs tells Prime he's gonna keep him alive so he can witness Earth and the rest of the Autobots be destroyed, so he can suffer as Megs did (from his point of view). Megs orders the Doctor to start dissecting Sam alive so he can suffer. Just then the cavalry arrives and Megs and Screamer retreat.

 

Prime is slowly dying, so he puts Ironhide in command. During this down time we get a lot of character development. Ironhide learns of Wheelie's presence and is suspicious of him, but just kind of pushes him around. Sam tells the guys about the symbols but none of them can read it - only really old bots can. The military thinks Simmons might, so they go get him, but he doesn't know what it means - but knows that really old robots have been around for a millenia. That reminds Wheelie of Jet Fire and shows them his location (only Wheelie knew because like him, Jet Fire has defected - except Jet Fire didn't tell anyone 'cuz he was stuck on Earth)

 

So they go get him. Jet Fire explains how The Fallen was gonna use the Sun Harvester despite orders to not do it. So one of the Primes (why 7?) uses the Matrix to defeat him and seal him up, but losing his life and the Matrix of Leadership in the process. So Jet Fire was on Earth looking for the Matrix. He explains that Megs is now as powerful as The Fallen was, and only a Prime with the Matrix can take him on and the Matrix is somewhere near The Harvester, so they need to go to Egypt.

 

While preparing for battle, we get some character development. We see Arcee explain to Mikaela that there are no female Autobots - just the voice matches the personality. We see Chromia teasing Wheelie about Mikaela - Wheelie denies being in love but eventually says that he is. Ironhide and Sideswipe plan the attack with the military - shows them their very close, joking around. Ratchet ponders a tree and a bird perching on his finger, he realizes life on Earth is worth fighting for. We see Wheelie bringing Mikaela flowers, etc, etc.

 

Eventually the preparations are done, the world governments are up to speed, and off to Egypt they go, dividing up in 2 groups - one attacks the Harvester, the other looks for the Matrix - this group would be Sam, Mikaela, Simmons, Wheelie, and Bee.

 

Meanwhile, Megs has already invaded Egypt but can't use the Harvester yet 'cuz the Harvester has to line up with the Sun. So they have to wait, and hold the military and the Autobots at bay. The Autobots want to destroy The Harvester (or at least delay it long enough for Prime to be up and running), the Decepticons want to keep it in one piece long enough to use it.

 

The good guys are not having a good time - Their getting beat up, Devastator forms and keeps them back. The military asks for air support and one of their carriers is sunk. So they really need The Matrix. They find it, but Megs senses the Matrix's presence (because of All Spark powers) so he orders that they be attacked to keep them from Prime. After a long struggle they get there, and Prime is revived, and a dying Jet Fire offers Prime his spark to give him a fighting chance. By then its too late though. The Harvester is turned on. From a top the pyramid Megs gives a speech telling the Autobots to forget the humans, that their a superior life form and that with The Harvester their species will survive. Prime gets up and gives a speech back, and all the Autobots show their allegiance to Prime.

 

Prime tackles Megs and beats him up and yells at him "Turn it off!" Megs just laughs in Prime's face, telling him he loses, that the solar system will be awash in Energon and all biological life will die. Prime shoots at The Harvester but its power deflects the rounds. Prime flies up to the Pyramid to try to destroy it by hand but has a tough time getting close. At this opportunity Megs decides to try to kill Prime with a charged up shot from his cannon, while at the same time Devastator and the rest of the Decepticons focus on Prime too.

 

Ironhide sees this and orders the Autobots and the military to cover Prime. The military takes on Devastator, Ironhide goes after Megs and the Autobots take on the rest of the Decepticons. Without Megs as cover the military kills Devastator, Ironhide tackles Megs (making him miss Prime), and shots at him at point blank range, to no effect. Megs in a fury fatally injures Ironhide. Megs looks up in horror as he sees Prime flying into the energy field created by The Harvester. With a lot of struggle Prime lands on the pyramid, and rips it apart, turnign it off, saving the world. the surviving decepticons retreat.

 

The End.

 

So what do you think? I think I got rid of most of the plot holes, added a lot of potential for funny and endearing moments, added a lot of the missing suspense...etc, etc. Sigh, they were so close.

Y'know, I liked the way they stopped the Solar Harvester the first time around: when Gears removed his personality component from it. :P

Ya know, I have no problem whatsoever with your story, and in fact probably would have loved it if it had been what I saw on the screen that fateful Tuesday night of the 23rd....

 

My ONLY complaint with your script is that I think that stating that there are "no real Female Transformers" is a little bit too specific.

I think that is something that should be a gray area, never explained thoroughly, because the Transformers don't entirely understand it themselves.

I think it adds an interesting layer to any Trans-Female to be like: "Well, I KNOW that I'm female, but what purpose does my being female serve?" It adds mystery and allows for individual interpretation, for those who DO want to think too hard on it, and for those that just DON'T.

 

But that's just my opinion... again, good story!

I would have kept Alice and the "clones" the way they are. I loved seeing Grindor in the fight scene with Prime, and there have been repaints since G1.

 

Sorry, but I HATE the idea of a TF falling in love with a human. I don't see a human falling for a TF, so why would it work the other way?

 

I also dislike the idea of Megatron not killing Prime becaue he wants him to "feel the same pain." That's the type of mistake you see movie villains do all the time that ends up biting them in the rear. A smart Megatron would off Prime given the chance.

With Jetfire's sacrifice, I don't think we need Ironhide to sacrifice himself. We already lost Jazz in #1, I don't want to also lose Ironhide.

Hehe, thanks for the analysis. Its just a difference of opinion, but I'm all for having Ironhide die in a blaze of glory, especially if its saving Prime. Regarding the feb bots and their spark...you know, thats not bad...I kind of like that. I prefer mine but I could live with yours :)

 

And come on, having Wheelie fall in love? That would be sooo funny! Like you could have had Sam and Wheelie have this rivalry going, except that every one knows Wheelie's got no chance. lol. I think it would be hilarious. Imagine if Ravage went after Makeila, and Wheelie steps in between them, and then Wheelie realizes he can't do anything to stop Ravage and he just starts chasing him, and Wheelie runs away screaming and Ravage just treating him like a toy.

Over all I think this would have been a great change to the movie. My main problem with the whole story line as it is it seems like all they really cared about in the movie was sex, drugs and big explosions and not about the actual transformers.

 

Also I think the Male female thing is more of a representation with the TF's. I think in one of the older comics they had a form of reproduction called budding where some their nanobots broke off from them and formed a new TF. They could do that from a male and female perspective. You need two TF's of oposit sexes to create a protoform using their combined nano bots and then it develops a spark... or whatever...
