Upcoming alternators customs

Recommended Posts

Hi Gang,

A while ago I posted some ideas for some custom alternators I had planned. Having been once more reunited with my G1 collection after a trip home I have come up with a few more ideas for custom alts that I thought I would share. It might seemexcesive but I'm really keen to start customising more figures and as there's so much potential for the alternators line, together with the fact that they are few and far between, I thought it'd be fun to do and share. Here's the breakdown of hopefully what my collection of alts will look like in 6 months time:

Currently:

Smokescreen

Sideswipe

Bluestreak

Hound

Jazz

Dead end

Overdrive (red meister)

Backstreet (yellow tracks, may potentially paint helmet and chest grey and replace rockets with chrome guns)

Prowl (custom white subaru, no police lights or black trims)

Planned official purchases:

Swindle

Grimlock

Tracks (blue)

Ravage (with red forearm blasters replaced with 3 chrome claws each side, mistransformed into hunching position)

Windcharger

Planned customs:

Hoist (light green hound ala bodycounts, with mistransformed backpack to distinguish him, remolded head to resemble G1, winch at front, chrome forearms and selection of custom hand replacement tools)

Nighbeat (Blue meister with yellow face, visor, abdomen and thighs, helmet painted blue and antennae added, black gun/muffler)

Trailbreaker (glossy black swindle with mistransformed backpack to distinguish him, chrome forearms and selection of attachments, red thighs, forcefield projector behind head somewhere, blue/red visor, tarp cover as roof to distinguish vehicle)

Swoop (silver ravage with red tracks head, grey face and red crest sculpt, forearm blasters replaced with retractable red melee blades on each, possible replacement of fold down chest with more G1 type chest)

Hot-rod (red ravage with resculpted head from other alternator, chrome triple blasters instead of red forearm blasters, overshoulder missiles removed and yellow painted inside - reposed to be fins, flame emblem painted across fold down chest.

Springer (green!! tracks with yellow fold down chest, grimlocks sword, shoulder missiles folded back out of sight, green face and helmet)

Wheeljack (White tracks with G1 wheeljack repro head, white, red and green lower legs and fold down chest, shoulder missiles removed and wings pointed up like fins, forearm blasters replaced with scanner on one side and toolkit on other)

Sunstreaker (yellow dead end, head, arms and rear window black, face grey, shoulders, windscreen and front lights from sideswipe, thighs, hands and feet yellow)

Red alert (white sideswipe, like sureshots, red front window and lights from dead end, black shoulders from dead end, head repainted red as well

as various other parts)

Bludgeon (orange and black GTR of grimlock, like furious georges digibash, only major change being the head - to be worked out nearer the time!!)

Shockwave (purple!! grimlock, hand weapons not used, left hand substituted for cannon and hose attached, head replaced with action master shockwave, seats/feet grey)

Blurr (blue windcharger, just repaint gun black and add fin to head and remove visor)

Skids (the BIG custom!!, swap the subaru body parts for that of a dark blue, 2 door WRC ford focus!! repaint body parts to resemble G1. Head use repainted hound head, doors look more like meisters incorporating whole frame and glass, reverse transform legs to reveal fold down red feet. Will be immensely challenging but hopefully there's a chance it may work)

Many of them are really just ideas, the ones that I really want to do are wheeljack, sunstreaker, skids, swoop and trailbreaker. Let me know what you all think and if anyone has any ideas to improve or even rethink them. Cheers.

those are some great ideas, lot Tracks your going to have to own to that, here are some that i plan on. but 1 i don't talk about anymore and won't til i do it and post the pics.

Arcee= repaint of tracks with a custom head and chest and gun into a crossbow

Blackaracania= btlrvg with custom head and chest and gun into a crossbow

Sunstreaker= Deadend, just waiting on my funds to pick up so i can be like everybody else

Trailbreaker= repaint of Swindle so i can be like everybody else as well

Red Meister= because i don't buy bt and white's pretty easy to color change from what i hear

White Meister= adding a custom wing like the rx-8's that come with wings so he can look more g1 like :clap

Planned customs:

Hoist (light green hound ala bodycounts, with mistransformed backpack to distinguish him, remolded head to resemble G1, winch at front, chrome forearms and selection of custom hand replacement tools)

I had Hoist as a kid, so he holds a special place in my heart. Will your Alt. Hoist be a tow truck, or just have the winch in front?

My only suggestion is to use a Meister instead of Smokescreen for Skids. Using a Smokescreen means you have to cut the car and make new hinges (the hinge connecting the arm/shoulder to the body). You can bypass this problem with Meister.

Furious george, thanks for the tip. I actually told a little white lie when I said I own red and white meister as I've paid for them but they're in the post as of this time so I haven't had a chance to see them firsthand. I think I'll buy the 1:24 focus then I can compare all 3 in the flesh so o spaek. From what people have said though it does seem that meister may well me easier and more suiable to use.

As for hoist I wes thinking of modifyiny the rear compartment to hold some tools and maybe adding a simple tow bar. I'd highly recommend checking out bodycount's excellent custom if you haven't already seen it.

The arcee custom idea sounds cool. I always fancied trying my hand at a G1 arcee custom but wasn't sure where the hell to start!! Tracks does seem a fitting mold though as he's quite slender. Just a head swap and chest remold (hee hee) and it would fit the bill. I'm curious, would you colour the car pink??

I personally think a pink vette would not be very fitting. But having pink accents that show up in the bot mode would be. Think Smokescreens grey accents. :tfevil

no i was thinking a red vett, with white and pink accents in alt mode

Here's a thought for the Skids custom... why not try to find a model of a Scion? I personally hate the things, but they look alot closer to G1 Skids than anything else on the road right now... I dunno if you can get any 1:24 models of them yet though. Again, just a thought... I drive around all day seeing new cars on the road and thinking of thier most likely G1 Alternators/Binaltech counterparts... For instance:

New Beetle - Bumblebee,

Scion (XA, or XB? The really boxy looking one...) - Skids,

New F-150 - with cap on back for Trailbreaker, Tow Rig for Hoist,

Chevy SSR - Kup, maybe?

Civic - Cliffjumper?

Plymouth Prowler - Okay, I know they don't make 'em anymore, but wouldn't this car make a pretty interesting base for the Seeker Jet charachters, if they never get around to doing Alternators of actual jets?

And while I'm dreaming, how about a car carrier Ultra Magnus, or even a 20th anniversary Megatron?

OK,

Alt red alert is now 99% complete and so pictures will be coming soon. I have begun the process of hacking up a die-cast focus SVT, no easy task, with plans to turn him into skids using smokescreens parts. The transformation will be similar to smokes, except the legs will be reverse transform and the bonnet (hood) will lift up to reveal the head. All going well it should be done in 2 weeks. Also, I may repaint yellow tracsk slightly to resemable G1 backstreet by painting the helmet and chest grey, replacing/repainting the missiles as chrome guns and possibly painting the shins yellow. As I'm hesitant to modify a metal BT, especially one not available as an ALT, I'm wondering what people think to the idea. Any input gratefully received.

You could always use a blue alt tracks, and paint it yellow before you start the other work...
