But aren't most of those moulds knock-offs? They wouldn't be up to scratch for Hasbro or Takara to use.

 

If the original moulds aren't available, I would guess they'd have to reverse engineer new ones, like they did with Soundwave, and that's expensive. Let's hope they do have some of the original moulds after all...

No, the KO molds are fine, Hasbro or Takara would just need to use a higher quality plastic and use die-cast for the parts that need it. They also would need higher QC than the KO companies.

The knock off molds are not fine. They're cast from the toys themselves hence there's variation. Like Superion being slightly smaller. Mixing bootleg parts and knock off parts doesn't always work. I know, I own bootleg Devastator and Superion.

 

Secondly, Hasbro doesn't own the knock off molds. The bootleggers do.

 

The status of the original molds has not been confirmed or denied by Hasbro or Takara.

i want to get the superion knock off but it doesnt look the same colors as the original from the pics ive seen . is it the same colors?

Don't buy any of that knock off crap. Somebody's old ones would be so much better. I was able to get back just about all the combiners I had back then, you will to.

The knock offs break just from transforming them. Good for display, but little else. I'd far prefer the real toys.
