i'm confused. i understand the different types of TFs as made by hasbro and takara, but i'm confused once you go beyond that. who exactly make the alternators range? what is the difference between alternators and binaltech? what is ehobby and how come they make all these limited editions? what is the current relationship between hasbro and takara (from the name differences i take it that things aren't 100%)?

can anyone please help unscramble my befuddled mind?

Binaltech: Diecast

Alternators: Plastic

That's all I can answer for you...

OK, its a start. i hadn't noticed that though. mind you, i only bought my first alternator (as apposed to binaltech) this weekend.

As said before...about the Alternators and Binaltechs it's all on the materials. Plus Binaltech has a storyline, which is in Japanese of course.

Takara - Japanese company that did Diaclone (the series G1 TF toys were repainted/remolded from) Binaltech is made by them. Currently producing most of all the TF toys done nowadays.

Hasbro - American company that uses Takara's molds and such and gives us toys. Alternators is made by them, using what Takara has molded.

eHobby - An online place to get TF exclusives as well as other goodies.

Hasbro at this point pretty much takes whatever Takara does toywise and use it to the marketing needs here for TF's. Hasbro also has a bit of say-so in what gets made, molded, and such. Hasbro doesn't really make too many "new" TF toys, only because it's cheaper and more effective to use what Takara is doing/has done.

thank you.

and do ehobby have a website?

thank you.

and do ehobby have a website?

Well you can get most eHobby stuff from other online sources...such as BigBadToyStore.com and others.

And let me rephrase my statement of eHobby - It is a company that does TF Exclusives...I do think they have an online website, but not sure what it is. I think it's in Japanese anyways.

In regard to the Alternators/Binaltechs, there is one designer each from Hasbro and Takara working on those figures.

Thanks for catching mym back on that LM... :thumb

I forgot to mention that...hehe...*sigh*...

oh i see.

so why exactly does ehobby get to make these specials? do they have some agreement with takara?

I would think so, they have been doing it for quite a while and since they are a japanese company they only have to deal with Takara which is far more relaxed on rules then Hasbro is.
