Those little tabs that stick out from the plates in bike mode( looks like foot rests) tab into grooves on the forks of his front wheel, I didn't even notice them till I saw this thread, and wanted to try it, least that's the only way I could figure.

Looks pants, I will stick to the giant leg mounted rotary saws...
