G1 Megatron ain't so bad.

You just want to like him. :P

Of course bad guys never win. Duh. But at least G1 Megs could have lost with a little more style, instead of sounding like he got his ass handed to him every time he wheezed out "Decepticons, retreat!"

And plus, let's face it, David Kaye's voice kicks Frank Welker's voice's ASS.

Lost with more style, nope...don't think so...not back then, nowadays Yes, very much so. But back then that was the best they would have given him.

I love Frank Welker's version of Megs, particularly in the movie...it's so gritty and deviant. Now Kaye's work as BW Megs is amazing too, and fits the slightly more aristocratic nature BW Megs has at times.

Also there were many an episode where BW Megs lost with no style, stuttering retreat or barely able to say the words period.

Also I never was trying to say that G1 Megs is COMPLETELY BETTER than BW Megs...they both have their goods and bads, I was just trying to state that G1 Megs a lot of times gets a "bum-rush" with being called a poor leader and a sucky Decepticon.

THis is exactly one of the reasons why I think the G-1 cartoon is better than RiD or Armada (have yet to see a single episode of Energon, so can't judge that).

In the G-1 cartoon the Decepticons were very often close to victory. "Ultimate Doom" comes to mind where basically all the Autobots can do is react and try to hold things together. Megatron got even so far to have Optimus be responsible for bringing Cybertron into Earth orbit. "More than Meets the Eye" is another. The Decepticons had won, leaving Earth with a working spaceship and energon reserves enough to conquer Cybertron; the Autobots were left behind, outmaneuvered. If it wasn't for Mirage playing stowaway and deciding at the last moment that Cybertron wasn't really a nice place to be when the Decepticons had conquered it, the Decepticons would've ruled the Galaxy.

BW Megatron was also a very good commander. Also coming very close to victory or even winning if....

In RiD and Armada I see a Megatron who very often sits on his throne, blames his soldiers for failing in battle, while he himself fails even more miserably. Of course, there are some small victories in both series, but never to the point where you have: if it hadn't been for that small unforeseen thingy, the Deceps would've won.
