Landquake and Beachcomber in the show!

While I disagree that Furman totally sucks, I agree with BC that he is transforming Armada/Energon into G1. While it was cool to have G1 characters appear in Armada, the sacrifice was other characters like Sideways, Wheeljack and other great Armada characters that have potential were totally wasted. I was surprised that he bothered fleshing out those BW repaints, which I think was cool, but it is depressing that other cool new Armada characters were reduced only to a couple of cameos. He also transforms existing characters into their G1 counterparts. Does Armada Starscream really have to act like his G1 version? I think not.

On the other hand, I love what Furman is doing with the new War Within: Age of Wrath. It has great potential to be the best WW series. Vol.2 had too many unanswered questions and I didn't really get into the first volume. Dreamwave has its flaws, but I've been an avid fan of their G1 series because it's a great way to renew interest in G1 fans with more mature storylines.

while my passion is the comics, and i love dw's stuff, i still like the cartoon, even though they are taking certain characters in completely different directions, like rodimus for instance

The thing I like about the comics though is: They get rid of the imo overused supermode crud, and make the repaints actual different characters. That way you have more characters with different personalities. It just seems more cool than the supermode crud. Don't get me wrong I like the show, but its still marketed towards kids to make them want the toys, and the comics take a slightly more mature and grown up tone. The reason though the comics can get by with making these repaint characters new people is simple, they don't have to pay more voice actors to do their voices, where as the Tv show would.

As if I needed another reason to hate this horrible show! Thank God for Simon Furman and Dreamwave.

You obviously don't know anything about the show, so you have no right to judge it. It's a great show, and for the most part, the fandom has really enjoyed it. We have enough ignorant opinions from "fans" as it is, without more of you adding to it. Enjoy your hobby, instead of talking trash on it constantly...

and as for Furman and Dreamwave....HAH.

They're nothing but pretty pictures, as there isn't a single writer in that company, now days.

Praising modern Simon Furman is about as valid as praising a B-movie director...he writes watered down garbage that can't hold a candle to the flame that is the animated series.

This is hardly a great show or anything even remotely good. The story is bland and boring, the execution is hopelessly weak, the characterizations are completely nonexistant, and an annoying kid is (once again) the most prominent and important character in the show.

If this is a great show then why are Strongarm and Battle Ravage blatantly mistransformed? If this is a great show then why do Kicker and the Autobots choose to side with a guy who killed several of their troops and stolen their energon? If this is a great show then why is Scorponok a personalityless grunt who has no motives or ambitions of his own but is a brownnoser to either Alpha Q or Megatron depending on the time of day? If this is a great show then why did the returning characters suddenly recieve their new bodies and redecos without any explanation? If this is a great show then why are Landquake and Beachcomber mere power-ups when they're clearly new characters? If this is a great show then why are Sharkticon, Slugslinger, Tow-Line, Grimlock, and Swoop absent?

And while I admittedly haven't got a chance to actually read the comics (that will soon change however) but judging by the synopsis's I've read, the the comics are clearly superior. Alpha-Quintesson is an actual villian and not this "good guy who kills innocents to restore his homeworld" BS. Scorponok is an opportunist Decepticon who has his own ambitions and motives, and even considers betraying Alpha-Quintesson. The Terrorcons are also Decepticons and actually have personalities of their own. Optimus Prime actually realizes Unicron is not dead and the Decepticons may revolt at anytime. Quickstrike, Landquake, and Beachcomber are their own individual characters and not some damn power-ups. Characters from Armada like Hoist, Thrust, and Red alert actually show up from time to time, unlike the anime where they're completely forgotten. Tidal Wave isn't a lobotimized idiot who likes to repeat his name like a damned Pokemon. And the characters are actually all correctly transformed.

And I am enjoying my hobby. I love the Armada and Energon toy-lines, and I'm enjoying the Armada comics and look forward to reading the rest of the Armada comics aswell as Energon. But that doesn't mean I have to like _everything_ about my hobby. If something sucks, it sucks. I'm not going to just swoon all over Superlink just because it has "Transformers" in the title. And it's not like I set out to hate Superlink. As a fan of the Armada/Legend of the Microns anime series, I really, really wanted to like this, I really wanted it to be a worthy follow-up and addition to the TF mythos, but alas, it was not to be.

:pfx Lord Gyconi

Have only read one Energon comic so far because I am still waiting for them to arrive. My supplier was a bit slow.

But I found it odd why Scavenger and Red alert were not in Energon. Both are close friends to Optimus and I would think that they would always keep a medic close by.

And the comic is so much better because of the reasons Lord Gyconi states. Tidal Wave is not a blithering idiot and the Omnicrons and Terrorcons actually have personalities.

Of course I too dislike Kicker a great deal. He is a typical human. Annoying. Granted I liked Rattrap who was also annoying but at least he sometimes actually did something good. (Like blow up Ravage's ship.)

Sure Kicker can find Energon but I would rather take a scanner with me and look a little longer than to be stuck with him. :tdown

As for Simon Furman, he is a great writer. Involving G1 characters into Armada was a great idea. :thumb

He is also responsible for the UK Transformers series and the latter part of the G1 US series. Both are ultra cool! And let us not forget that he wrote the last episode of Beast Wars which was the best Transformers series ever!

They should get him and Brad Mick to write the next Transformers series with Mainframe on the animation again.

Then Transformers would totally rock once again. :clap

Alpha Q nor his troops ever killed anybody.

Megzarak is a deep cherector whos motives are to protect his Prince, and when he was reprogramedn by Galvatron that added isntent depth(personality stugles, doubting his purpise etc. etc.)

The Repaints and US Molds arn't in the show so they can focas on the other charectors, no one complained when most of the BW toys wernt in the show, and if were lucky Ichikawa will throw us another Linkage-esqe manga featuring those guys.

Shockwave is not Stupid, he just talks slow and, has voise activated wepons.

Alpha Q nor his troops ever killed anybody.

Except for all those unnamed Autobots and Omnicons who all got killed by the Terrorcons.

I suppose you're right. After all, Aeon/We've didn't give any of the current cast any personalities, what would make me think they'd give personalities to them?

Sorry, but anyone who constantly needs to remind himself what his own name is, _is_ stupid.

Your reasons are just picky stupid crap that amounts to about zero. You obviously have no taste or know how to recognize vision...You use the term "Obviously" about a dozen times for every point, when in reality, NONE of it is obvious...It is all stated points that develop the plot. Who cares if Landquake isnt a new character? Do we really need two of the same guy running around, never noticing he has the same exact body structure as his partner, like in G1? Your points are mute, your opinion is flawed, and you're seeing everthing completely wrong. Have fun.

And what pray tell is this "vision" behind the drivel that is Superlink? I watched the last marathon and it was boring beyond all belief. There is no drama, no suspence, no character development, no comedy, no proper sense of storytelling. The pacing is awkward. The "characterizations" are paper thin and utterly shallow. Yes, the dub is horrendously bad, but that only succeeds in making this already bad show _worse_.

And yes, it _does_ matter if Landquake and Beachcomber are blatantly misportrayed as mere power-up redecos, because that's _not_ who they're supposed to be! But then again, the Terrorcons are not supposed to be but mere mindless drones, but according to this drivel, they are.

It's hard for me to decide between the comics and TV show, and by that I mean Superlink. Yes, Simon Furman can't do anything good. Yes, the TV show's animations aren't exactly perfect, to say the least.

Super Link/Energon is a refreshing take on the old Transformers lore. But what fun would it be if the characters were exactly the same as G1, like what is the case in the comics? Yes, it does feel like homecoming, but it's also boring since we already know what their motives and ideas are like. :tdown

I like it that the Terrorcons have a personality, but the Omnicons already have one in the show (and thank good they left out the "Prrzt"! :tfpuke ). I like Scorponok in both versions, so that's okay with me. Alpha-Q is in my opinion a better character, even though the dubbing screwed that up (the whole "To destroy the universe!" instead of "to recreate our world" thing :tfhuh ). And yes, I know that some people think Alpha-Q' motives are rather stupid, but let's be honest: Has that been used in a TF series? I don't think so.

But all things considered, it's a matter of preference. So Lord Gyconi and Bodycount, stop judging each other because you have different tastes.
