Binaltech pricing

Recommended Posts

I'm guessing in Japan the average price of a BT Figure , before shipping, is around $47 on hobby link that about the price any way. I have also seen them on Ebay for as low as $40 for BT Tracks.

My problem is, are they really worth that much for so limited an amount of diecast? I admit they feel and look better quality then the Alternators and come with superior instructions booklet, but you can buy a completly diecast 1:24 scale model car for less than $10 at some stores. So why is it $20 plus for just the front frame of some of the BT's like Tracks and Hound?

I bought BT Hound for a very high price at an import store. I was happy to have the figure and I loved the quality over the 2 Alt's I had but I was dissappionted with the amount of diecast I was expecting Atleast the whole outer shell to be diecast. There is a plus to it not being all diecast but not for the price.

Not only the die cast is a reason, also lower numbers is a reason. Compared to Altnernators there are about 3 Alt's for every Bin. This is my guess at least. Lastly you have the point that EVERYTHING is more expensive in Japan that has to be imported. Iron is one of those things.

Binaltech = screw job

Alts = common sense pricing

And as we all know, getting screwed by iron is a lot more painful than getting screwed by plastic.

I think the biggest Hasbro screw job is the G1 commemorative figs, when they were retailing for $29 a pop. I was like I can get the more G1 accurate Takara collection off ebay for the same price. Grapple and Inferno are no bigger and have no more diecast than an deluxe Energon figure. They should cost at most $14.99.

Totally. Plus the Takara re-issues are way better packaged.

the alts are good toys, but I have to admit that the bt's are better showpeices, if you have the dough... but most of the guys are buying bt's out of shere Hasbro Hatred. Sometimes I agree.

Well, that's the thing. If you want die-cast cars that you won't ever transform, there's plenty to be had (and in larger scale -- they even have 350 Z's and Lamborghinis! :redface). But if you want a transforming toy that looks cool and won't get dinged up if you ever touch it, Alternators do just fine.
