Paint mixing question

Recommended Posts

I know this is a noob question but I have to know. Can you mix Testors acrylic paints to get different colors. I don't want to bother getting all different colors when I can just mix colors to make them.

They're acrylic paints so they should be able to be mixed fine. I believe JInsaotome uses this brand of paints too

yes you can, but it is pretty difficult to get the same shade if you need more, so either make up enough so that you'll definitely not need to make another batch OR take notes of exact volumes of each paint used when mixing it to start with.

Overall, you may as well buy the pre-made colours because it saves you time, and you have to spend the money on the extra paints to mix the colours too, so it doesn't save you money to mix your own.

The only exception I can think of is getting the right flesh tone, but that'd be for Warhammer or G.I. Joes rather than Transformers

I agree with Scorch Unit, buying you colors is cheaper, but the unfortunate fact is that you cant always get the color that you want, so mixing your Testor Acyrl's will sork just fine. Sometimes you get lucky and just mix 2 colors and get it close enough, then you just add a lil black to make it darker. Lighter shades im not to sure of. Jin Saotome and frenzy_rumble would be the guys to go ask though.
