dismantling Binaltech

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone here, i am impressed by the kitbashes posted here. I'm attempting to restore the chiped paint of my binaltech, by completely stripping its paint and repainting it . But its seems that i am stuck with removing the rivet or pin at the door, which also holds the plastic door interior to the metal exterior plate. I do not want to damage the plastic much. So if any of you guys manage to remove it please advice on how to do this!

heat it, grab it with a needle nose and pull?

If you just want to repaint the black part, you don't need to take it apart any further or strip it. You can just paint over the black with a brush or mask it off and spray it.

you have to trim the thin black plastic away so the peg will fit througha dn you can just pop it off.

atleast that's how i do it.

but like tom said, if it's just the black, then you don't really need to take them apart.

haha looks like i found one answer to my question, from another forum:

"You need a Dremel like tool with a small grinding "rod" attatched to it.

All I simply do is grind two sides of the circle flat.

(carefully, don't gouge the plastic surround)

Then using needle nose pliers turn the pin so the flats are now parallel with the flats of the inner door panel and the two will seperate easily.

When done with painting, just reverse the removal procedure.

This is the easiest and most problem free method I know of.

I've tried the soldering iron on the door pin before and it didn't work either.

Oh yeah, that back door just "pops" off the hinge just like the front door."

looks like i may have to try it, even though i don't like to grind any parts of my toy off.

A grinding rod? can someone give me more info on that?

The plastic around that metal pin broke on my Alt Hot Rod. Looks like I'm going to have to get some modeling material and construct a new one. :tfmad
