Beast Wars/RID Grimlock

Recommended Posts

This mod can be done, in part without kitbashing. If you want to kitbash further, you can.

You can move the dino head back in bot mode, revelaing the chest, keep the tail peg hole up half instead of all the way back (so there is room for the dino head to go back over the bot head and lean agaisnt the robot back like G1.

Then you can get some Gundam hands (or even repainted mp3 soundwave) hands and then put them in the pegs and move the dino claws back.

Then either repaint/mold the robot chest and use the dino tail as a cannon (fits holds the tail action button as a handle) and the sword as normal.

If you want to do more work, you can replace the skeleton legs with the green dinobot remolded legs (dino hasd a headbutting dinio head and was a predacon/beast machines bot) OR remove the tail and modify the chest of the robot to be bigger and replace the legs with alternative legs to make a tail.

Voila. G1 style beast wars grimlock.

Oh and remove the sodding beast helmet from the bot head too.

Pics to follow (not kitbashed just retransformed) upon request.

BTW: anyone made a kitbash of Beast Wars Grimmy from the Beast wars COMIC? It looks like he is a T-Rex and NOT a raptor?

The way they drew the Trex reminds me of the Animorph Trex that split into three humans.

Oh and any animorph conversions would be appreciated!

As you can see, you can put something like Gundam model kit hands into the wrist holes and move the claws back (without too much resistance and it wont break them).

I was thinking of adding a small circular plate to the top of the chest (small enough to not rub the Raptor's neck when it slides back into beast mode and not to big to interfere with the robot legs when they are in placed in beast mode), and then painting the chest black with silver highlights here and there.

The legs Im not so sure about. Should they be painted solid silver? Grey? Completely Gold like his Beast Wars version?

Id love to se some digibashes of this guy or other people's kitbashes.

I might not be even able to pull this off so Im hoping others might be able to.

If I just find some good hands to wield the sword and hold the tail as a gun and which fit into his wrist holes then Ill be happy.

Oh, I also put the raptor hands at the front, making his "gold chest" appear a bit larger to make up for the lack of beast head. Notice the space where his maximal rub-sign used to be.

Neat, I've done that to my BW Dinobot when I still got him! :tfgrin

That picture helps a lot. At first I was wondering what part of the Steamshovel was the dino head. :tflaugh

Great. So could someone run with this idea please and help a guy out? Id love to see some G1-inspired (but still complimenting the original paintscheme of this toy's) paint scheme for his legs and chest.

Im not looking for a complete G1 make-over as I think the colours used work nicely.

However Im wondering if :

- a black midrift/belly

- metallic gold/silver detailing (legs/claws)

- matte grey (for the legs?)

- etc

would they work?

Any digibashed pics, perhaps with a small circula/square "chestplate" to go just above the empty rubsign area to bulk him out would be nice.

Anyone know of any fists OTHER than the Mp3 soundwave ones that would work? I dont own many Gundams you see...

To help you out here are some various versions of "The Big Grim":

So could anyone digibash me or show via a slapdash paint over a basic colour map of what they think would look good for this alternate transformed grimlock please?

Cheers!

Also, I forgot to add this:

This is Dinotron, which uses modified legs for a more organic look. Im sure they might be useful for anyone who wants an even more different Grmlock look.

PLUS:

Here is yet another remold that could be sued for parts.

(Some say "ThrustoL" but Japanese often confuse /l/ and /r/ sounds as they use an sound halfway between the two)
