Local Gundam tips:

Depends on the situation.

I use Acrylics because they go on easily but I also you enamels when it comes to metals.

This is from another thread:

I'll stick my neck out and state that acrylic paints are your best choice for this kind of work. It's near impossible to get a smooth finish with enamels. And even when dried, which takes forever with enamels, they show fingerprints like they should be crime lab tools. Plus acrylics can be thinned with water, mixed, and used for fine details more easily. Yes, if you handle the toy a lot it can wear off, especially if you are the sweaty handed type, but this can be fixed by a light coat of acrylic sealer. Then you can do what you want with it(within reason, nothing weird) and the paint stays put. Oh, buy a name brand, even walmart has Testors acrylics, if it's got a name you've never heard before then it's probably not meant for plastics.

Also, I've heard that enamels don't hold very well on softer surfaces, e.g. a rubber nosecone on a Seeker.

I tried both recently, just started getting into kitbashing.

I started w/ enamels b/c that's what I remember as a kid, but

like the other comments said it took too long to dry and even

then it was still "tacky". It did go on easy and the colors were

nice and glossy but when I switched to acrylics there was a BIG

difference in usability. And acrylics handled both glossy and matte

colors fine.

use spray enamal for large areas, brush for small details.
