What about the KO-BT

Recommended Posts

here are some Ko Binaltech that I found on Ebay.

I wanted to buy one of their "Sideswipe" to swap the head, arms, upper legs and feet with my Dead-End Binaltech to give him a neutral color sheme.

Does anybody know if those are good enought in real life to be mistaken with real Binaltech or if they are lame and the "KO"ness is too much obvious ? Cause I can't found a loose Sideswipe at a lower price as I just want to take him appart. And those would be just perfect.

Thanks for your help.

I ordered a white Sidesipe from that same seller and just got it today. It depends on how picky you are I guess. Mine had a few flaws; one of the tires popped off while I was transforming it (the pin popped right back in though), there's a crack in the plastic near his head (not from anything I did, already like that) and there's some scuff marks on the plastic and a chip here and there on the paint. And the joints are either loose or really tight on it (one arm is loose, one arm is tight). But I just use mine for display so I don't care.Personally I'm very happy with it though considering how cheap it was. The actual molding of the parts is nice and clean. The head could easily pass for a real Binaltech head, great paint job on it. The hands are binaltech quality, and pretty much everything else looks like a true Takara/Hasbro part. The tires are really cheap looking though. They look like they're made of some kind of plastic, not rubber like the real Binalts.

Personally, I can't tell it's a KO unless I look really closely, or I pick it up. The looseness of the joints and the scuffing give it away, but it's really one of the best KO's I've ever seen. Check out of my "Custom Binaltech Downshift" thread for pics and decide for yourself.

I have seen your Downshift. Great work :). I prefer it to the white meister. For me though, the best overdrive, transformation wise, is the red binaltech meister. Almost the same head ans a bumper as chest. But it's quite expensive.

I'd like to display my Binaltechs as you do. next to their G1 incarnation.

Back on topic, I'm just interested on those KO (this white or yellow Sideswipe especially) by the head, the arms and hand, the upper legs, the feet and the windshiled and front light too. As long as those are good, I don't mind paint ship or anything else on the rest of the car.

But as alt mode Dead End is really great, I'm affraid to ruin it. Aside from the arm looseness, they look ok ? I'm still hesitating but a loose and cheap(less than 30usd) sideswipe Alternator is just so hard to find !

I've read overall good things about these KOs though I do not own any myself. The yellow Sideswipe was a popular choice to kitbash Sunstreaker before the official Sunstreaker release.

The problem with the Lambor/Sideswipe bootleg is that the whole passenger compartment/torso area is crap. The windshield is flexible and looks like it's been sanded with 50 grit, the two swivel connector pieces that attach the arms to the torso are put in backwards and reversed, yes it's that screwed up. Also, most of it doesn't line up or close properly when you try to put it in bot mode. However, most of the car parts are fine and work well enough. The feet are made wrong so the ankles need to be sanded down in order for the feet to reach a 90 degree angle and the headlight area looks a little off because the fenders don't line up correctly with the headlight assembly.

I swapped out the passenger compartment/torso with an extra Sideswipe I had and made him Red alert which I like better than Binaltech alert because he's a recolored Sideswipe as he should have been from the get go. Also, if you remove the black paint from Alt Sideswipe's head, there's no need to paint the helmet red to make it Red alert.
