Casey Jones...

Recommended Posts

While checking if TRU did me a favor and ignored the street date for TF Movie toys I finally found my favorite sports loving psycho vigilante, a Casey Jones action figure. I'd been keeping an eye out for one for a while without any luck.

First of all, What's up with the lack of articulation? What action figure nowadays only has 90 degree hips? he can't even move his legs to the side, only forward. Shoulders could be 360 if not for the shoulder pads, but again, no outward movement. Latch this on to the lack of elbows, and I'm a sad sad boy. The wrist twisting makes up for it a little bit, but he still can't hold a bat properly. Oh, and he does have a twisting neck (only side to side) and waist (ditto)

How's it look? Pretty good, when compared to the model from the new movie. He's lanky, he's wirey, he looks like he could really move if he was a real boy. As to compared to the old comic, and the first movie? Casey was a hockey player, and although he wasn't a hulk, he was pretty broad. I'm not complaining really, because I like the stylized look, I'm just saying.

Accessories: He's got what I've wanted since the original Playmates toy, A removeable mask. I have a feeling that if they'd make a figure for him from the original movie toy line (It came out for Secret of the Ooze, which Casey wasn't in) he would have had this, but alas, it wasn't to be. Also he's equiped with 2 baseball bats that can be stowed on a strap on his back in a cross formation on his back. In addition he's got a golf club, and everyone's favorite zombie masher the CRICKET BAT! Finally I can have Raphael tell him that you need to know what a crumpet is to play cricket. Finally he has a golf bag that he can stow the golf club and cricket bat in, and sling over his shoulder. He doesn't even look all cluttered up with all the crap he carries somehow.

Price: Waiting paid off. He was only Six Bucks! Wooo!

Over all I'm happy with him, he can't move much but he displays well. I have him next to a 12" Shawn of the dead figure on my desk, both of em brandishing their cricket bats. I've always loved this guy above all other TMNT characters (except maybe Usagi Yojimbo, but he's really his own thing, so it doesn't really count.) In the end, he was $6 well spent, and I don't regret it a moment.

Edit: I forgot to gripe about one little thing in the accessories. WTF? No hockey stick!? There, I'm done.
