Alt/BT + modelkit = kitbash

Recommended Posts

ive been thing about a few kitbashes and the all revolve around the idea of taking a altinator e.g. smoke screen then taking a model kit on the same scale with a car thats very close e.g. toyota altizza (lexus IS) and swoping / grafting the body panels on the TF. so has anyone done it? what do you think of it?

ps. ive done stuff like this on RC cars and i think ive got a way of getting round the door shapes and windows

pss do any people know haw to take the wheels of

for a test i wasgoing to take the cusco advan subaru JGTC car and put the flared arches bumbers and uber GT on smoke screen then i was going to go with somthing harder like an evo8 FQ330 or altizza/IS300

I had thought about doing this to several car models, but after taking apart Alt Smokescreen, there is a lot of pivots, hinges & mount points that are part of the paneling itself (some of which are attached by pop rivets, i.e. they have to be drilled out), which ends up making this method a true pain in the butt.

However, you can cut the model body to match Smokescreen's (or anyone's) transformation, and BUILD the aforementioned pivots, hinges, and mount points that underly all the paneling (using polystyrene sheets), and this will get you at least to having the external parts together, and then you could use spare Alt parts for the robot limbs, appendages, etc.

At least this is what I have thought up for a gameplan. I haven't had time to sit down & crack one out, and I'm sure it will take a ridiculous amout of time & design, but at least it will be a true kitbash.
