I didn't see anything really dedicated to such things, so I figured why not start a thread dedicated to it. I'll start it with two that I know of.

Battle Ravage

Version 1 - No peg below face's chin to lock into bot mode

Version 2 - Has peg below chin to lock into bot mode

 

Spotting the difference - Battle Ravage comes packaged in bot mode. Just take a close look below his chin and see if there is a peg going into a hole for his revision 2. This was a running change and the pegged version appears in later cases.

 

Divebomb

Version 1 - Energon Leiden is comprised of two different parts - one is a cannon, the other is a blade.

Version 2 - Energon Leiden is comprised of two identical parts - both are cannons.

 

Spotting the difference - Look at the package ;)

I'm not sure how widely this change is distributed and if Hasbro made the change due to poor timmy possibly poking his eyes out. Go figure. Anyone who can verify this for me, please do :)

Divebomb- There exists a version that has both blades w/o handles on the tips, seems rarer than either of the two already mentioned.

 

Optimus Prime- Has mouth on face, shipped in early Energon shipments, has since been replaced by a full face plate version starting around January (though some stores may still have mouth Primes).

UK version of Battle Ravage has pin AND Decepticon symbol (if UK counts, its still hasbro)

 

UK energon Magnus has Space Team pictured on the box instead of Street Speed Team, but still in original deco

Skyblast:

 

Wave 1 - gun barrel tapers, wing tips are semi-loose

Wave 2 - gun barrel is straight (meaning it's easier to hold), wing tips are tight

It's almost as if you want to wait a month before buying a new toy to see if there's a recall...but lord know I can't wait that long :D
