Thought on Repainting and a Hot Shot Mold Q

Recommended Posts

Hey!

I've become increasingly dis-satisfied with repainting TFs and so I decided to take advantage of the mold options.

I'm doing a pretty successful show accurate repaint of Rodimus Prime but aide from that, I plan to avoid paint like the devil because black and metallic colors seem to be the only things that show well with the paints I use unless I cake the paint on and I hate doing that...

But since Hasbro is releasing tons of redecos of existing molds, a little work with a screwdriver and enough spare parts and you can do cool stuff. (Somewhat off-topic, I have a sweet GIJoe Duke custom that's show accurate and I'm now intrigues with what you can do with enough spare GIJoe parts... You can honestly get by with only painting highlights if you have the right parts to assemble... Only drawback with this Duke is that he's not an O-ring mold.)

I started off splitting the yellow and red components of the two Armada Hot Shots into two figures and I'm pleased with the results far more than I ever was with painting. If we could get an orange redeco, I could have a cool Hot Rod...

Anybody know how I can separate the fists from the mold and switch 'em? Once I do, I'll be 75-percent complete on a Bumblebee.

I gotta scope out that molding thread because I need to do new heads for yellow Hotshot as Bumblebee and I wanna do a new Rodimus Prime G1 headsculpt.

I'm halfway tempted to get Universe Smokescreen made from the Hotshot mold for a few more customizing options...
