Classics Jetfire

Recommended Posts

Let me start by saying that Classics Jetfire is awesome! :thumb

IMO since he is based on IDW's Stormbringer series Jetfire, he should be more "comic accurate":

1) I painted the "air intakes" on the top of his shoulders.

2) I shortened the missles, and painted them.

3) I painted the spaces on the helmet between the antennae and helmet. (Looks less bulky to me)

4) Took apart the legs, and painted the knees.

Nothing major, but I still wanted to share:

Enjoy!

FYI.... Stormbringer pic for reference:

Sweet, although I'm still put off by the oversized helmet head.

You either get helmet, or Skyfire head so Pat Lee tiny it's not even funny. I think the compromise worked quite well.

Yeah, sometimes it's the little paint apps that make the most difference. :)

everyone keeps saying that but i dont get it, his helmet is in proportion to is HANDS unlike his regular head wich is the same size as his hands

Usually, in order to appear more realistic, artists in anime and manga have to over emphasize other things. To be "masculine", artists usually employ the idea of a small head on a larger body. This in turn give the illusion of "power" and thus "masculinity" or "grrrrr me Grimlock have power!" effect.

Apart from making feminists titter to themselves about "small heads guys!", it also gives the impression that the figure is taller, as from an ants eye view, heads, due to perspective appear "smaller" than the feet/body etc.

Thats why he seems "weird". Many toys or even sketches look weird with "realistic" proportions, especially in anime.

Well, if you notice the Stormbringer pic his head looks a little small, and that's WITH the helmet.
