Fixing Smokestacks On Prime.

Recommended Posts

Well I finally did it! :clap The short somkestacks on my 20th Anniversary Prime has been fixed and here's how I did it. I took some vinal tubeing and cut it down useing my freinds Takara Prime's stacks as a reference. I opened up the small holes on my 20th Anniversary Primes stacks and just slid the vinal tubeing in place and applied a slight touch of glue and presto! Longer stacks are in place, simple as that. Now all I have to do is paint them. The vinal I used is the hard kind not the flexable stuff. But it was very easy to accomplish and it saved me money to boot. Anyone who has the 20th Anniversary Prime and wants to lengthen the stacks can do it very easy all you have to do is find the right materials.

Now for the trailer. Is Takara or Hasbro EVER going to release a trailer for Prime? Has anyone heard anything about it? Its amazing to me that Takara or Hasbro hasnt mentioned anything about making a trailer for this impressive Autobot masterpeice. I know that some people are making customized trailers for thier Primes but what are they charging? and are they worth it?

Takara MP Prime Box. I would have asked my freind to do this but he already threw his box out which was stupid by the way, but could any fellow TF fan who has the box to his Takara Prime make me color copy of the front of the box and send it to me? I just want the cover of the box so if any one can make a color copy of it and send it to me I would appreciate it very much because I love that picture of Prime on the cover. Email me if you can.

Well guys I'm off to work, have a great day.

I just cut some toothpicks down to size and wrapped 'em in enough tin-foil until they fit snugly in my Op's smokestack holes, that way I didn't have to worry about damaging it or anything. Just takes a little trial and error to get the right amount of foil, and a little practice to wrap it without crimping the foil. But there's a few methods out there, it all depends on what people are willing to try :tflaugh

Is there any way that either of you could provide pictures of the finished projects. I like the foil toothpick method just because it doesn't permanently change (I didn't want to use the word damage) the figure.

Hey Turbine. As soon as I take some pic's of my upgraded Prime I'll post them on here for all to see. I didnt damage Prime just opened up the small holes on the stacks so the vinal tubes could fit and they did perfectly. I just finished painting them up and it looks very cool in my opinion and alot better looking then the short stacks. Now the ONLY difference between my 20th Anniversary Prime and Takaras version is the box (which I will say beats Hasbros hands down, but no biggie) and the battle damage. But as I said before as soon as I get pics taken (which will be very soon) I will post them on here.

A friend of mine is planning to cut up an old telescoping TV or Radio Antenna to create Prime's smokestacks. Perhaps that could work as well.

I did this this morning. I just used a couple of layers of foil around cut-down tooth-picks, and wound a little bit of sellotape (do you call it sellotape in the US? You know, just clear, sticky, everyday office use, tape) round the bottom to make it fit. Worked well, looks pretty good. Thanks for the tip!

Only my wife said it looked better before, but what does she know? She liked the short stacks better, but she didn't grow up in a world where Optimus Prime had long smoke-stacks! :tflaugh
