Scalpers do my head in !!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I live in England and am trying to collect alternators but its proving very hard when you have total dicks selling the actual robot for $30 and then trying to spank me with anything from $25 - $50 postage, I know its a long way but c'mon!!!! any one else suffering like this??

It's the main reason why I don't use E-Bay for buying TF's, it's bad enough that next to none are released in my area without having to pay over the top amounts of money to greedy scalpers who don't even like TF's, only the money they can make from the fans.

I know what you mean, an average alternator from my local guy is about £20 - £25 but sometimes it would be nice to get a bargain but itsnot going to happen.

Cheers satanstorm, new here so I will check it out, thanks man!!!

I've sent stuff to the Netherlands before and I don't enjoy getting raped on shipping by the post office, so I charge what it costs.... it is air mail after all

what does pwn'd mean?????

When people start a thread with  the word Scalper, there's always going to be at least one reply  from someone who feels they're being taken advantage of.....

The positive side of The Internet is that is a convenient source of information about

hobbies, toy lines etc.

The potential downside is that those of an entrepreneurial inclination can use the information to obtain these goods and sell them at a price over and above what the normal price is.

If it weren't for The Internet based fandom, Alternators may not even exist, and TFs in general may be in much poorer state than they are.

Standard USPS air shipping on an Alt to the Uk costs about $18.00.  I'd actually like to know who is trying to charge you $50.00.

As for the toy, i *assume* you mean Mirage.

$30.00 is about average for Mirage at the moment, i've not seen it any lower than $27.00

You'll be doing well to find it anywhere online for less than that it's 'Hot' right now and will be for months to come.

If you're talking about an actual dealer, Mirage comes 1 per case of 4. The 3 others being nowhere near as 'desirable' to most. So dealers have some entitlement to  compensate for the fact that they're going to be left with toys that are not as easily sold.

As for the those sellers who bought the toy from a shelf, they're not going to do it at cost. Such a thing is a waste of time.

Toy cost = $20.00  + Tax (at say 5%)  = $21.00 + the cost of gas means their profit is maybe $8.00 for the time it can take to  track down the toy, that's not a huge profit.

Looking to sell a $20 toy for $30 doesen't make someone a total dick as you put it.

If it IS Mirage you're after, i suggest you go to BBTS and order it from there.  Their price is about the aforementioned going rate, and they will charge youn exact shipping.

You're unlikely to get a better deal on it.

Tony.

Newsflash; Hasbro don't actually 'like' TFs in any major way either, it's as much an economic resource to them as it to any collectable toy speculator.

Pawned.
