American Vs. Japanese

There are more US-UK exclusives than JP exclusives actually. JP just seems better because it is different.

I mainly have american TFs because I don't get many chances to purchase imports.

That's just it, it's different, sure, but it's not better. Road Caesar and Raiden are painfully lame as toys. Thunderwing and Crossblades were far better than their Japanese counterparts (Black Shadow and Blue Bacchus), Dinoforce was on par with the Pretender Monsters, and Deszaras was an ok toy at best.

Thunderwing can pull off the Transforming Pretender gimick, but Crosswings looks too much like one of those lame Spiderman toys that transform into a bug.

You mean Crossblades.

What's sad is that it's better than Vroom only slightly - both in name and toy.

My preferrence must be for Japanese since they outnumber my American figures currently.  Then again when you have a choice between die-cast or plastic (BT vs Alt) or between bubblecards or boxes (US vs Jap Beast WArs) or with better box art (American vs Jap Reissues) and the price is almost identical for both, it's kinda hard to pass up on the import stuff.

The Jap line didn't get Jetfire, Sky Lynx, Omega, the deluxe insects , Roadbuster, Whirl, Most of the really good micromaster stuff, probably %60+ of the Pretenders (not a great argument...), and All of the Action Masters, just to name a few.

Most of the Japanese exclusives were actually just retools, or in a lot of cases merely paint variants. Many of the completely exclusive molds we didn't get really aren't any more amazing than what we had here.

Of course that doesn't stop me from paying well over a grand on four tiny cassettes and four tiny heads this month.

I made a quote earlier on one of TOM's threads that I feel should be quoted for truthiness as it is one of the most important aspects of my disease.

That's what being a collector is all about---buying Blot you hate.

well most of my new stuff comes from japan (tho its all made in china)

why? well its not that much extra when you live in europe and with boxes that you can repack for a collecter its a big possitive. and they are released first so even if i wanted the domestic release idd have to wait 6 months

and yeah europe US has had more exclusives but i guess its a case of the grass is allways greener on the other side

Yeah, so far all I have is soundwave, soundblaster, and ths 02.  I'm po so I settle for most American figures.

many reasons.

better paint jobs

better color

Jap just do a better job altogether.

compare jap to american and see who is better.
