Seems like a pretty useless cannon in an atmosphere. The air is filled with protons so the moment he shoots there will be a collision with protons. (They do test in a vacuum for a reason.)

no, it's not that simple. it's obvious that the protons and anti-protons are collided inside the cannon and the resulting energy is channled/focused into a powerful laser beam.

Well, what do I know, I'm an archaeologist, not a physicist  :tftongue (until they start using flint arrows or the stories take place again on prehistoric Earth, my education is pretty useless)

But...(nevertheless), he has anti- and protons in his cannon, mixing them causes a big explosion through which a lot of energy is released, and that energy is shot out to cause another explosion when hitting the target (that is, if the decepticons have learned to shoot by now). Wouldn't the destructive force be greater if the anti-proton were delivered to the target, react with the protons in the targets body and then explode (just throwing idea's out there...)

Guys...It's a toy...It doesn't shoot a laser/explosion/proton/anit-proton.

If it did, we'd be royally screwed

well if Megs did it that way, he would have to keep the anti-proton from hitting a regular proton before it reached the target.

Would give me a reason to actually buy it, instead of laughing at all those who wanted a gun Megs and ended up with this  :tfevil  :tftongue

Exactly :thumb

That's Earth science for ya: create a lot of power (in this case a big explosion), don't use it directly, but let the desired effect (destruction in this case) be a secondary result after the energy has been transformed.

(And now I'm off to bed, cause I have to be at work in less then 8 hours...)

Wait, so US toy laws would permit selling real laser guns as long as they're bright and mulitcolored? Sweet.

:note NACHO CHEESE AND ANARCHY!

BOY THAT SURE SOUNDS GOOD TO ME! :note

Good bio, and I dig the research you dug up, Jag.

I still think he should be firing foam darts 'o death.  JMHO, though.
