insanely priced

If this clown gets any where near that I'm gonna put mine on ebay also. I never applied the sticker to mine,as a matter of fact I never even transformed him. He just sits on a shelf with the rest of my Alts....

$ 200 is a ridiculous price. It's sellers like this that really make me hope Hasbro will re-release him meaning the price of the original will drop and he'll have lost hist money. (That and I still need a Swerve myself  :tfsad )

not really look at past ebay auctions they go for 40 bucks on average 50 bucks the 100 dollars are just bidding fuel where each bidder gets mad, but I bet you once they get the toy in their hands they ask themselves, "what have I done to spend 100 bucks"  :clap

I have also seen some go for a little more than $100.

Some alts do go for insane prices.

I still had to buy two alts that I missed and ended up getting the BT versions instead.

before meister was reissued I was willing to pay 50 bucks on ebay.  I was glad it came out again. :tfgrin

Some recent Swerve's on e-bay (sold between today and june 20th):

Loose

* $ 23.05

* $ 99.69 (loose with box)

MISB

* $ 104.49

*$ 120

* And the one I wish I had found a bit earlier  :tfsad

Prices can vary rather extremely, but $ 200 is outrages.

IMHO, anyone who buys a $ 20 figure for $ 120 should really question what he's doing. I really doubt this figure is rare enough to warrant a price that is significantly higher then for example BW Burning Beast Convoy (a japanse TRU figure from 10 years ago), or a current Japanese TRU exclusive Sonic Convoy set that contains three unique figures of which the price for the regular version of two out of three is already higher then the regular store price for Swerve.

But this is probably the reason I will never own him. Then so be it. It's a hobby, a fun past time. If you have to pay very large sums to get a certain figure then the fun goes away.

(Okay, I wrote this less then 24 hours after I paid for a prototype Optimus Primal, which was more expensive than two MISB Swerve's  :redface  :punch )

I case anyones curious, I'm the one who sold the 104 dollar one above.  There were 3 bidders who put in bids around $100 (more might have bid, had it not already reached 100 so quickly).  None of them had had anything to do with me (meaning I didn't rig the auction, that's really what he's going for).  I wasn't planning on selling but at these pricess I can't resist.  I have a few more I found in my storage that I will be selling.  I bought them when they were shelf warmers and nobody wanted them and then forgot that I had them (I always thought he was kind of a cool figure).

Hopefully they will go for close to that too and I can buy some other figures I want (mostly N.Prime, Kiss convoy and MP-04).

I think a lot of this is the lack of BT's giving BT collectors disposable income to spend on the alts that aren't in the bt line compounded with scarcity.

I still find it out odd he goes for so much when there is nothing to him.....unless there was a hidden surprise cracker jack box item inside his body somewhere like a powerball ticket worth millions or something....

how can the test shot go for so much lower then shouldnt the test shot be wroth more than productin model?  like all the other TF on ebay that are so called test shots...

Testshots/prototypes can also vary extremely in price. I watched a prototype C Landmine which was sold for $ 10, or the exact same price as the regular store version. But I've seen other proto's go for hundreds of dollars. All depends on the figure: a popular character can be sold for a lot.

In case of Swerve, I think people want the real version and not the prototype. Prototypes are more for collectors who want something different, something more unique. Most Swerve buyers just want the toy. (I think I'm going to be checking out proto's as well, because I only want Swerve so I can kitbash him.)

Well, he does have a sticker and a different head.  Plus he's a red vette, which most people would say is cooler than a blue one but maybe not than a black one.

I'm sure that the fact that their is no BT alternative has a major impact as well.

Who knows...
