Oops, you're right about that. I'd forgotten about "Possession" and "Optimal Situation". I think what it is is that I just thought it was stupid that Primal would become truck-like b/c of Prime's spark. :tfgrin But they needed something to explain his new alt mode. Then again, the jet mode pretty much came out of nowhere, unless you posit that Primal was a jet on Cybertron. Wouldn't be unreasonable to assume, since every robot mode he ever had in BW/BM had flight capability.

I guess there's just inconsistency in how it's presented, the more I think about it. In some cases sparks are treated as "souls" distinct from any memories or abilities etc. (TM2 Dinobot being an example - he needed his data tracks to be uploaded before he could "remember" anything from Dinobot's life; also Silverbolt whose data tracks were scrambled and thus didn't even know who he was anymore), and in other cases they are treated as basically a catch-all for everything besides the TF's body (e.g. those instances when a spark would just fly around from body to body and still retain all of its memories and everything else, viz. BM Megatron).

Is there anything to say the data tracks could not be attached to the spark or held within it?

What, you mean to suggest that sparks record everything? It's possible...

Well that's where it gets a bit weird IMO. Everything except the spark itself is understandable as a part of a robotic mechanism. But what the heck is a spark anyway? (first person who says "a bunch of positrons" gets a kick in the nutz) You know? What exactly is it and how does it interface with a robotic body? Can it change? If the concept of the Matrix as explained in BM is to make any sense, then they must be able to change/grow. But then that was a very spiritual explanation for what they were, even more so than in BW. I guess if I think about it too hard I start to do this -> :tfhuh

It's part of alien technology, thus is as understandable to us as a Mongolian cluster Powerglide :tflaugh ...but we can speculate all we want till those Has/Tak guys explain it to us :tftongue

It has to be something important, as if there's datatracks and something to powerup the body, they wouldn't need sparks in theory.

its nice but out of all the colour schemes for this mold this is IMO the worse of the lot

Well...... it's my understanding that the spark is what makes a TF sentient and not just "artificial intelligence".

But I suppose that the truest answer is that sparks were a story device created by Forward & DiTillio to give them an easy way to introduce new characters as needed (i.e. the stasis pods thing). Of course, that answer isn't very much fun.  :tflaugh

Good idea...Really LOUSY mold, I mean those molds "Suck Molten Slag!" I mean at least use a Cyberjet, or Thundercrackers mold!!  But a mold that hardly requires ANY transformation.  Man HasbroHasbroHasbroHasbroHasbro get your Blot together..

I see you've met mr. wordfilter :tflaugh  :thumb  :wave

You must have missed the Thundercracker, Skywarp, and Skyfire versions of this mold.
