I have to agree with MH on this.  I mean they want to take this movie seriously.  Not everyone is into TF's, So putting a faction symbol may mean nothing to them anyways, plus it already says Transformers on it so that is sufficient.  At least this way when people see this, they may be thinking along the lines of a Terminator movie. Action packed, good special effects, and an interesting story.

HOWEVER, this does not mean that the movie will suck. the main problem with AVP is that the writers were forced to keep things to a PG-13 level while all the previous movies were rated R. at the best of times, tf cartoons were rated PG so a tf movie with a rating of PG-13 would actually be a step up :thumb

on the other hand, this poster communicates quite a lot w/o words. There's a huge eyeball but it's not human or even organic, it's a intricately detailed mechanism... and it looks menacing and dangerous... it's over the earth so you know that this war will involve all of humanity... and perhaps most important of all, it sets a tone which is decidedly different from what people might remember from the old cartoon.

yeah, i doubt that most of the detail will even be visible in the movie unless the script calls for an EXTREME close-up.

It's a Bay movie, so it probably will.

At some point we'll either have the cliche'd scene panning out until we see it's actually reflected in someone's eye or some kind of chase scene which results in a TF flying face first towards the cameras.

 

Or of course the Transformer trapped in ice scene which is bound to have a highly detailed moving eye to indicate it's not as dormant as it seems.
