Haven't followed or watched Transformers G1 since I was a kid.  That being said, I have, within the last couple years, been collecting Alternators and I also have the Masterpiece Optimus Prime.  Something in the design of the shoulder, knee, and arm joints seems strikingly familiar to Masterpiece Prime's joints.  The hands are also a close match.  Also, check out this link to a model Abrams Tank.

 

Notice all the correct details represented in the drawing.  We have the correct shaped turret including the intricate rail/piping design.  It looks as if Meg's chest and shoulders fit the end shape of the tank perfectly. The end and tip of the cannon is an exact match for the model.  Finally, the tank's treads and wheels, although considerably shorter than the model's, are rather complex and well represented on the drawing.

 

The fact that the bot mode is a dead ringer for G1 Megatron should also be seriously considered.  This drawing screams Masterpiece Megatron.  The complexity and the details in the drawing are undeniable.  For those who say "But wait, Megatron was a gun in G1!", do you really think, in this day and age, any responsible company would release a life sized chrome plated toy pistol?  I think not.  I think this is either an incredible hoax, or we are looking at the drawing plans for Masterpiece Megatron.  Now, whether this guy ever makes it into actual production is the topic of a whole 'nother post. 

Ferchristsake Ford lobbied congress hard to keep SUV's catagorized as a passenger vehicle and not a light truck!

Are you sure? Because there's a ton of safety standards that SUV makers *don't* have to meet since they're classified as light trucks.

OT but: Yeah, there's no way ford lobbied anyone to make SUV's "cars".  Their are a ton of reasons why not:

Saftey requirements

Tariffs on imported of trucks (big reason the Big 3 still can compete)

Gas mileage messurements/requirements

 

Ford would probably like to classify the V8 mustang as a truck :-)

You know what, I have to agree with every thing you said. I wanted him to be an Alt because he's so realistic but Every one think of the revised MP Starscream. He's a realistic jet now too. Looking at the pic again, his G1 likeness is just as close as MP Screamer too. Now you are getting my hopes up again. Damn!

The only thing that looked a little out of place in my Masterpiece theory is the face.  Looked a little "cartoony" in my opinion.  However, they are trying to stay true to the look of the G1 animated bots.  I'm thinking they scrapped this from the first Decepticon Masterpiece release because they were concerned about the tank mode not being G1.  Instead, we're getting a 100% accurate G1 Starscream.  We'll have to wait and hope I guess.  Time will tell.
