Prime and Magnus Brothers?

Recommended Posts

well, I dont like it when the do repaints either, but RID Magnus was cool because hee wasnt a repaint :)

retcon?

I think the whole Twin spark thing is cool though :), but  Magnus will never replace Prime :)

i have to agree its a neat idea but like i said some time back there is only one Optimus Prime. i think prime having a 'twin' would change the story a lot.

just do what i do and think of them being twins just different.

I don't care what the Dreamwave comic said.  I don't care what Diaclone or Takara said.  Ultra Magnus is what we know from the movie, the cartoon series, and the Marvel comics.   That is all.  He is not a Prime clone covered in battle armor.

The flaw in this argument (and i quote Mikeprime only as an example) is that

A) The Diaclone/Tfs WERE RETCON repaints to begin with.

B) If we accept Magnus as ONLY a big red and blue bot - complete and with no seperations - we forget that his Alt mode actually is two pieces.  So at some point he does have to split.  I dont think there is any transformer out there that spits out its guts into a whole other component as an integral part of its transformation (perhaps SoundWave being an almost exception to that)

So really he was always meant to be two pieces. Now weather he should have primes head or not ... should they be brothers? Gay luvers? i dont know.

I do have to say that i really enjoyed the way the DW books played Homage to all incarnations of the characters - Toys and Cartoons and comics.  I guess that created some sort of "closure" for me that the Cartoon never provided.

In the cartoon Rodimus Prime's trailer transforms the same way Magnus' trailer dose(in the toon)

WTF?

explain yourself xboob

The animater's were lazy so sometimes they just drew Roddy's trailer growing out of his ass, instead of coming from off screen

Ah.

Of course thats not the same thing anyway because a Winnebego/Roddy is ONE piece.

But a Semi -pulling a trailer (which ever kind of trailer that might be....) is two pieces.

arrrrgh.... so what they were brothers! it was a change from the other crap... it could have been worse- Optimus Prime reformatted into Ultra Magnus!

now if only Has/tak would go back to the toy storyline of Megatron and Galvatron being separate characters and not an upgrade.....possibly making Galvatron a rival decepticon commander to Megatron!

Absolutely!

I agree!

Although with the recent outings - i am assuming its safe to say that any kind of continuity has gone right out the door.

In the G1 cartoon Magbus' transformation was different nearly every time

Well of course he has to split when in his alt-mode, but the semi-truck doesn't have to a seperate unit that transforms into a robot.  Ultra Magnus is a whole being whether in vehicle mode or in robot mode.  He is not a white Optimus Prime that can abandon his trailer and transform into a robot.
