IMO, MH, i tihnk Astrotrain is faithful the whole idea of him. as much ass as the 10th anni BW leader figures kick, they ain't faithful to the ideas of their modes. again, IMO.

if by that you mean "all animal on the outside, all robot on the inside", then sure

and I guess you could argue about how much that violates what BW "is"

notice how I say "you" because I'm not going to :roll

anyway I do see a correlation

these toys look like they are meant to be a revisit to the G1 series that allowed Transformers to really take off. add that into the fact that there is no cartoon, leads me to believe that this line is going to be marketed towards the collectors and not children.

so I must ask the question, how will they handle megatron? now the obvious answer is to make him a tank, but I think that would be like biting the hand that feeds you. don't try to sell me a non-gun megs in a G1 line. and granted this has not be declaired a G1 line but that is obviously the spirit.

I think it would be a bold move for hasbro to take if they gave the fans what they really want and looking at the reaction to astrotrain they don't have to make it an all out perfect G1 match.

I do believe that they are intending to make Megatron a gun... not a realistic one, but a gun nonetheless

if done right that would be enough for me.

it does make you wonder what he'll look like.... but judging from what they did with Astrotrain, I don't think Prime is going to be a 100% faithful reproduction of his G1 form, any more than 10th BW Megs & Primal are for their original forms.

yeah, but unlike 10th BW Megs and Primal I tihnk they're gonna be a bit more faithful to the original design and ideas and stuff. :tflaugh

well no actually, my point was that (IMO) Neo Astrotrain is to G1 Astrotrain as 10th Primal/Megs are to original BW Primal/Megs

I mean, they *are* both immediately recognizable as Optimus Primal and Megatron, despite the differences.

The fact that Astrotrain's train mode is a bullet train says a lot to me.

I would have never known that was Primal but I see your point.

i get what ya mean.

what I mean is that the designs are more like Cybertron/Galazy Force than a reimagined BW. the Neo G1 designs are meerly updated, not Cybertronized, if you get what I mean.

Maybe if the first picture we had seen was his MUNKY mode... the robot mode is pretty darn Primal-ish though

(to continue that thought, if we had first seen Neo Astrotrain in his train mode, would we have immediately thought "hey it's Astrotrain"?)

P.S. I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't think that 10th BW Primal/Megs look like Cybertron figures... GF/Cybertron is VERY anime-looking to me, and I don't see a lot of that influence in Primal/Megs.

he's gonna be a Judge Dread style gun. rent the movie/buy one of the comics, and you'll see what they meant by that.

Is this that like with that kickass pic of Jetfire?

No. That Jetfire is a Titanium figure.
