Beast Machines...

7. Silverbolt: really shouldn't need explaining, he was soul-raped by Megatron and discovered that he liked being evil. His sense of self has been shattered and he spends most of his time coming to grips with who he really is.

don't think he's seen that far into the series yet... doesn't that happen in season 2?

oh yeah spoiler alert

I hate Beast Machines. I really do. Yes its the best 'bad' transformers show but its still bad. Random character changes, drives with absolutley no background. And Megs dragon mode is alot weaker then in BW. Also, how the hell did Waspinator get to Cybertron???? All in all, they tried to capataliz on the excellent Beast Wars, as so many have tried to do before, and like many of those attempts, this frankly left a sour taste in my mouth. My brain cannot make a connection between this and Beas Wars. It simply refuses delivery. So, as far as I'm concerned, I would just as son a dvd had never been released

BM dragon Megs > BW Dragon Megs

by a long shot

Waspinator's 'return' to Cybertron was the only lame thing in the show, though I still thought it was funny.

Well, frankly, it's a LOT better than all that.  I get on my high horse about BW/BM here mostly because I'm looking for a "great" series.  BW/BM certainly is the closest thing to that that Transformers has yet produced.

I'm an old guy for sure, and I was almost in high school when the original G1 series aired.  I loved it back then, but it's crap, frankly.  It did set the stage for character archetypes in Transformers, and so it has to be taken into account when looking at anything related to the Transformers.  But, make no mistake, I'm not comparing BM to it in any way.

MH, I can see your point to a certain extent about no character arcs in BW, but I think that's not entirely true.  There were some elements of development in Cheetor during the series, and certainly in Blackarachnia, though that was it.

I have no problem with Rhinox being evil.  In fact, he makes an excellent villain and adding a third party to the mix makes the story more interesting.  Yes, I clearly remember the episode in BW where Rhinox became a Pred for a while.  Certainly, they are very similar.  Still, I would like to have been given a glimpse into the change itself.  Even if if was merely a 5 minute segment around when it's discovered that Tankor IS Rhinox.  Merely for my own sense of story-telling - I'm not a big fan of when things just kind of "happen" and you're just supposed to accept it and move on.

I don't see how anything involving Waspinator could be "awesome"

Who cares?  Unless you guys feel like posting the script for the thing, I think I'll live.

True. I was pretty upset Thrust had to turn back into Waspinator.
