Price and date set for Diamond Select Toys Matrix

Recommended Posts

I'll take a look at the pictures... but for $175 it had better look pretty frickin' sweet.

and I still don't buy the "prop replica" thing b/c this is from a cartoon, so there never was a "prop" of the matrix to begin with; plus the characters were all giant robots. Like I said, it should be five feet across to be in the right scale. :tfgrin

Perhaps what Madhammer is missing is that this whole hobby is based on Disposable income.

If that werent a given - none of us would be here. At all.

We can all have different definitions of what Disposable Income is -but we all have it.

put it in that perspective and it makes complete sense.

i wont the thing.

but i understand why it exists.

Hunter

(although i agree - to be "life size" or "to Scale" it needs to be about the size of a car engine)

Teenagers do have disposable income.

and by definition - teenagers will not respond to the nostalgia factor of a movie-toy that is 20 years old.

so its not likely that THIS item is being marketed towards THEM.

*posts somethng contradictory*

I just don't get the impression that the majority of the people on this board are really spending "disposable" income on TFs... give them an actual budget and they'd probably only have money for socks

Look at Final Fantasy.

There's Cloud's sword, several pieces of in game jewellery, materia, Yuna's Tiny Bee's (although they double as a controller) and Shin Ra employee cards.

They're all prop replicas of things that never actually existed outside of animation.

It's just something that is going to increase as animation becomes more successful in the mainstream.

And I know it's too small, but better that than none at all.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. I'm so far from wanting to buy any of that stuff that it's not funny. I just don't see the point at all.

If that were true there wouldn't be any teenagers on this board

Not true, all of a teenagers income is disposable. What bills to they have to pay? Therefore every cent they make is for fun stuff.

I certainly is not being marketed toward teenagers. They are banking on the fact that the 80s kids have all grown up and hav real jobs and extra $$ to spend on stupid stuff.

Very true.

EDIT: (Seriously Madhammer, how do you respond to these comments so fast? Do you get some sort of alert when someone quotes one of your posts? Damn man!!!)
