Good pics...not-so-good figure.

Both of your pics are showing the grill there at his pelvis, just attached to the hood as in Truck mode.  I've tried it and it just doesn't seem to work with any degree of attachment.  As shown in my pic.  However...as Tman pointed out, his Box art seems to show it similiar to your pics there.  Which of course begs your question...how do they accomplish that?  My other question would be, if they intended the grill to stay the way it was in truck mode, why put a hinged grill there at all as it isn't necessary in the transformation for it to be on a hinge.

 

The instructions ought to be enlightening either way.

Skids' roof has that swivel joint that rotate 360 but it is totally unnessisary for the transformation.

HA! he has RiD Ultra Magnus knees! or hockey leg pads...

 

and Damn... Optimus has anger issues.... that figure looks pissed! even for a prime!

^thats what i was thinking his legs are only just a bit better the RiD magnus on the grounds he has feet

 

i do like the arms and head

 

you know if they painted that crotch peace black it would look ok

 

also if they molded on the G2 style sholder details (i think in rid Scourge uses them as missle lounchers) it would of made a huge improvment and then the BTA black convoy would of ruled

That crotch plate looks like it could fold up under the chest plate/hood. If not officially, then maybe with a little tweaking here or there.

 

Alt Optimus prime arms/shoulder kibble=Tracks leg kibble imo. Bleh!

 

All in all a decent figure. I`ll wait/pray for the repaint to be Trailbreaker. If that doesn`t happen I`ll reapint him into TB myself and use Prime`s head for someone else.

See? This is why Hasbro would rather you wait to buy the production model. Everyone's getting all bent out of shape about seeing a toy that is probably mis-transformed. With that said, it's not like Hasbro hasn't presented their own toys mistransformed before. :P

Yeah, I think that may be the case.  The fact that it's the grill of the truck, and that it's on a hinge the way it is, tells me that it can probably be made to fit between the hood (chest) and his interior torso kibble.  If not, I'll figure something out.

Is this not a test shot/prototype? It might not be fully painted or properly assembled.

You ain't kidding.  Makes me want to keep the darn stuff to myself.  Not that I care about people second guessing my transformation foo :tfevil  but because they really need to reserve judgment for the production piece as AM said and not get all bent out of shape about it.  Which echoes my reviews exactly when showing Menasor and Alt. Prime.
