okay so the actual new report is a couple years old, but I never heard of this!

 

Optimus Prime is heading out to the Middle East with his guard unit on Wednesday to provide fire protection for airfields under combat.

 

 

"On Sunday, we were announced as the best firefighting unit in the Army National Guard in the entire country," said Prime. "That was a big moment for us."

 

 

Prime took his name from the leader of the Autobots Transformers, which were popular toys and a children's cartoon in the 1980s.

 

 

He legally changed his name on his 30th birthday and now it's on everything from his driver's license, to his military ID, to his uniform.

 

 

"They razzed me for three months to no end," said Prime. "They really dug into me about it."

 

 

 

Prime says the toy actually filled a void in his life when it came out.

 

 

"My dad passed away the year before and I didn't have anybody really around, so I really latched onto him when I was a kid," he said.

Dude, he's a pretty well-known member of the fandom, so don't disrespect him, OK?

 

Plus, what's it to you that he changed his name? If he's happy with it, let him be.

as for the name change i think its cool seeing as prime stood in (in part maybe) for a father figure and all

 

still i wonder if he shouts out Transform and roll out when he drives off (if i were him idd do it)

Well, considering his fire engine is called "Fire Convoy", I think he does. :P

humm, never new any one changed there name to prime,.......but i gotta say he must have bearings of chrome steel.

It nothing to me that he's changed his name, just funny as hell.  I think its great he's serving our country and all  :usa  but the name... Now if somebody can change their name to Megatron he would have a natural enemy.

I thought that this might have been posted before, but I'm not going to do a search for "Optimus Prime" on a transformers board.

 

I don't know him but if he's cool, then so be it.  Just don't all of you get all upset when somebody finds this out for the first time and has a good laugh at it.  Maybe he should be sticky'd so that this doesn't get posted for the 1 millionth and 1 time

WOW your just so on top of things aren't you...wow.  Your right you don't see "ROSEDOGGYDOG" going to the middle east, nope! BUT Steven has been in talks with going into the service with his local recruiter and not at infintry level either, try officer.  So bow down!

 

As I stated, I don't have a problem with this guy.
